Today was the first time I watched the new qualifying system, rather ...interesting :uhh:
...Looks like for tomorrow's race Renault and Kimi will have heavy fuel load and the others were lighter... we'll see tomorrow.
In the top 3 qualifiers interview I noticed that Nico Rosberg looked the most round faced of the three, and sweated the most. Could be his young age and light skin had something to do with it, but in a race like Malesian GP, with extreme heat and humidity, driver fitness will play a big part. Now we'll see which drivers will have trained most during the winter..
Winner Fisichella, 2em Alonzo..... :)

Somehow, even though lots happened in Australian GP, it was not that exciting... I think Alonso was a bit too perfect in front for there to be any real excitement who's gonna win the race. It was a solid victory for him, so congrats for that, but I hope other teams get their act together in the coming races so there will be excitement in the Championship battle, it's always boring if somebody is too far ahead.

Not an exciting race at all cause Alonso flew over the road. It was very emotional to see the last lap while all the fans were making noise . The first time that a spanish pilot wins the spanish GP :]
Very nice result for Spanish people
But a boring race. If only Alonso or that one german driver win races, there isn't enough variety. But perhaps they'll at least develop a tight race for the championship.
Every time there are major rules changes to engine and chassis, the big teams come out strongest, and the field that was already starting to even up and give chances for many drivers to reach podium is again very narrow.
Naturally each year different teams have problems, but usually other teams have come and surprised us with good results. Now it's just 2 teams that seem to have any chance of winning, and it's not enough variety.
Schu pole remains in doubt
Saturday, 27, May, 2006, 19:46
Michael Schumacher’s pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix remains in doubt after the stewards launched an inquiry into his last corner incident at the end of qualifying.
The German ace was called up to speak to the officials after the paddock went into uproar, questioning the sincerity of the seven-time world champion’s claims that he had made a genuine mistake.
Schumacher had already secured pole when he apparently slid wide at the 40mph La Rascasse hairpin in the final moments of the session, partly obstructing the track.
Several drivers’ flying laps were ruined by the ensuing yellow flags, including that of world champion Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella.
Alonso was convinced afterwards that the incident had cost him pole position.
“Until the last corner I was three tenths quicker than my previous lap so for sure,” he said.
“It was not too difficult today.”
“I do my maximum in the car and today was okays, the car was performing pretty well, I think we have a good strategy and fantastic tyres for the race performance so we have to wait and see tomorrow,” he added.
“But after dominating all weekend, to lose on the last lap is not really a good moment.”
Although Renault did not launch an official protest, team principal Flavio Britore was incandescent with rage afterwards.
He told ITV Sport’s Ted Kravitz that it looked as if Schumacher had done it on purpose.
“I think everybody sees that not only me,” he said.
“He’s not touching the barrier, he’s just parking the car. This is the way Ferrari manage you know.”
Schumacher claimed in the press conference afterwards though that the mistake came after he was pushing too hard.
“I saw my sector times just were basically in the same area, so I mean it was hop or top. It was just unfortunately a touch too much and I came in to Rascasse, second last corner, locked up the front and then went wide,” he explained.
“Initially I did not stall the car,” he added.
“I tried to engage reverse but then obviously there was the traffic situation and I didn’t want to back up by myself without knowing what was coming around the corner and then finally it stalled.”
If Schumacher is found to have obstructed the track deliberately by the stewards he could lose his pole position time.

Renault could protest Schumi's pole
Saturday May 27 2006
Renault are reportedly protesting Michael Schumacher's pole position in Saturday's qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix after a furious Flavio Briatore claimed the German 'deliberately' brought out the yellow flags.
Seconds before the hour-long session ended, Schumacher, who was fastest at the time, lost control of his Ferrari and narrowly avoided the barriers.
However, instead of crashing, the German, stalled his car on the track at the Rascasse hairpin, which brought out the yellow flags and prevented a flying Fernando Alonso from claiming pole position.
And a disgusted Briatore has now accused the German of cheating.
"It looked deliberate, and everybody is saying it, not just me," he said.
"It wasn't like he hit the barriers - he just parked the car. I can't believe it.
"I don't know why he needed to do it - that's the way Ferrari manage."
His driver, Alonso, isn't too happy about it either.
"I was three tenths up on the lap until then," he said in the post-qualifying press conference.
"I am not going to give my true opinion on the matter here though. It is not the right place or time."
The incident immediately sparked rumours that Renault would protest Schumacher's pole position, however, so far the FIA are refusing to confirm whether this is true.

Schumacher pole causes Monaco row
Michael Schumacher controversially beat title rival Fernando Alonso to pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix.
The Ferrari star spun on his final lap in the closing stages but his time of one minute 13.898 seconds from his first run beat Alonso by 0.064secs.
His error at the Rascasse hairpin stopped Alonso among others from setting a faster time and led to accusations he had crashed on purpose.
Honda's Jenson Button failed to make the top-10 shoot-out and starts 14th.
Williams driver Mark Webber was an impressive third fastest, ahead of McLaren driver Kimi Raikkonen, Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella and Raikkonen's team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya.
Button's team-mate Rubens Barrichello did make the shootout and will line up seventh, ahead of the Toyota of Jarno Trulli and David Coulthard's Red Bull.
Button said: "I was quicker on old tyres than new. We will have to look at the data but everyone knows that qualifying well here is crucial for the race
"I'm extremely frustrated to be starting so far back here for a race I felt confident we could do well in."
Monaco Grand Prix stewards afterwards summoned Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella after reports that he blocked Coulthard.
Coulthard, a two times Monaco winner with McLaren, qualified ninth while Fisichella was fifth.
"He looked as if he should have been able to qualify in the top five or six," said Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.
"Unfortunately he got blocked by Fisichella on his fast lap and that cost him a great deal of time."
Webber's team-mate Nico Rosberg rounded out the top 10 in his first Monaco Grand Prix.
The manner of Schumacher's mistake provoked claims from many of his rivals that he had deliberately stopped on the track to prevent anyone from challenging his pole position.
The way his Ferrari ran wide looked very unusual, and he then stalled the engine while making an apparently ham-fisted attempt to reverse it out of the barrier.
Renault team boss Flavio Briatore said: "It looked deliberate, and everybody is saying it, not just me. It wasn't like he hit the barriers - he just parked the car. I can't believe it.
"I don't know why he needed to do it - that's the way Ferrari manage.
"I think he is taking everyone for a ride.
"Someone who was seven times a world champion wants us to believe that he didn't do it on purpose - it's fairyland.
"And given that we are not Snow White and the Seven Dwarves I think that what he did was unsporting and against everything.
"It's really astonishing what he did. Incredible."
But Schumacher said he had made an error.
"It was a touch too much going into that final corner. I didn't know I was fastest, so I was really pushing on that lap.
"I came into the bend hard, locked up the front and went wide. I checked with the (pit) guys what position I was and they said P1.
"At the start I hadn't stalled the car but it was impossible to reverse because of the traffic behind me.
"There were cars coming behind me, I knew it, but I couldn't see them well enough to judge when to pull out. Then the engine stalled.
"Whatever you do in certain moments, your enemies believe one thing and the people who support you believe another," he added.
"Some people may not believe it, but unfortunately that's the world we live in.
"I don't care what other teams do. I know Flavio well enough," said Schumacher, who drove for the Italian when he was at Benetton from 1991-95.
Alonso, talking in the post-qualifying TV interviews, said the incident had cost him pole position.
"For sure, I'd have been on pole if I did not see the yellow flags. I was three tenths (of a second) up on the lap until then.
"I am not going to give my true opinion on the matter here, though. It is not the right place or time."
Race officials are studying the incident after Renault went to discuss Schumacher's behaviour with them.
According to F1 rules, drivers are not allowed to set a fastest time in a sector of the lap where there are warning flags for an accident.

Fisi penalised for holding up DC
Saturday, 27, May, 2006, 18:49
Giancarlo Fisichella has been penalised by Monaco Grand Prix stewards for holding up David Coulthard during qualifying on Saturday.
The Renault driver was deemed to have impeded Coulthard’s Red Bull Racing car, although the stewards accepted that his actions were not necessarily intentional.
Fisichella was docked his three fastest laps, dropping him from fifth to a provisional 10th on the grid.
However, the final grid order will not be settled until the FIA concludes its investigation until the controversial incident involving Michael Schumacher, who currently sits on pole.
Fisichella's penalty will no doubt bring a wry smile to the face of Jacques Villeneuve.
The 1997 world champion attracted Fisi's ire at the Nurburgring earlier this month after hindering the Italian's progress during Q2.
The same penalty was applied to Villeneuve but the Canadian only forfeited one grid position.

What do you think guys? I was so shocking when I saw it jaja, I couldn´t believe it. Even Ferrari team were laughing about it, something that they wouldn´t do if a real accident happens
I am no Schumacher fan due to the controversial situations that keep happening around him, starting from rammin Hill and trying to ram Villeneuve, etc etc, somehow all these things happen and he's innocent?
What comes to this incident, I guess he's the only person who knows the truth, there does seem to be widely spread suspicion about this incident though.

I don't know, at some point there were rumours Renault wouldn't continue next year in F1, so perhaps Alonso's decision came because of that?
But then again, that rumour hasn't been circulating anymore lately, so who knows. I hope Heikki Kovalainen gets a drive for Renault next year, he's done a good job as test driver, and before that fought with Nico Rosberg in F2 series, coming second at the last moment after leading for long. So if he gets a good drive, he has potential.

I don´t know why Alonso made that decision cause I don´t think that Reanult wouldn´t want to keep him for more time at the team. Anyway, Alonso made some comments few months ago saying that he wasn´t very comfortable being a part of Renault team because they have never gave him the support he was looking for. They are supporting him now that he´s winning every race and even though when he wants to do an strategy Renault never let him do whatever he wants. I hope Alonso doesn´t have the same luck than Kimmi next year...Although Montoya is no having that problems.

Although if it's because he wants to set his own strategy, don't all teams do strategy and drivers obey that?
McLaren can be very fast, but has a reputation of being unreliable.

Yeah that´s they way it should be but it seems that other drivers have more voice when they are going to stop at boxes or choosing wheels. I don´t think Renault statregies are brilliant, you can expect they stop at boxes in the weirdest moment. I remember once when this GP started that they made entered at boxes to Alonso when the race was almost finishing and it was not really needed..so he lost a lot of time :uhh: Anyway, I hope Mclaren improve their cars for next year, they can be all the faster they want to, but in my opinion safety is more important.
Oh okay. This is something I haven't heard about. I do think on most cases team decides these things, but whoever it is, some teams seem to just always have the strangest pit strategies, they come in so that their drivers lose a lot of places. Teams like Toyota and Williams seem very conservative on their strategies, and for example Ferrari seems to always be ready to change plan according to what happens on track.

McLaren agree to release Montoya
Juan Pablo Montoya has been released by McLaren with immediate effect following his decision to quit for Nascar at the end of the season.
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41872000/jpg/_41872802_montoya_getty_203.jpg
Montoya will be replaced by Pedro de la Rosa
The Colombian will be replaced by test driver Pedro de la Rosa for the rest of the present campaign.
"I know it will be a tough transition but I'm excited about the chance to move into Nascar," said Montoya.
"I'm grateful for this opportunity to settle my personal life and concentrate on my future career."
The 30-year-old announced last weekend that he would be leaving Formula One for Nascar.
Montoya, who has won seven races since moving to the sport in 2001, has had a disappointing season this year with only two podium finishes.
And his last race in Formula One saw him run into the back of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen on the opening lap of the United States Grand Prix in Indianapolis - an incident which led to both cars crashing out.
Montoya will now spend the next few months at his home in Miami preparing for the 2007 Nascar campaign with team owner Chip Ganassi.
"We have agreed that with so many things happening in Juan Pablo's life right now, he should take some time out of the car and prepare professionally and personally for the future," said McLaren team boss Ron Dennis.
"Juan Pablo is an exciting driver and immensely likeable character who will undoubtedly make a successful transition to the Nascar scene."
De La Rosa will make his second appearance for McLaren when he takes over from Montoya at the French Grand Prix this weekend.
The Spaniard finished fifth and set the fastest lap when standing in for Montoya in Bahrain last year.
"I'm of course extremely thrilled to have this opportunity to race a car in which I'm really comfortable," said De la Rosa.
"I know the car better than anyone and I'm confident I can achieve important championship points for the team."
McLaren have already signed world champion Fernando Alonso from Renault for next year.
And if Raikkonen moves to either Renault or Ferrari, the door could be open for McLaren's British hopefuls Lewis Hamilton or Gary Paffett to make the step up to Formula One.

I've been watching one of these games about Formula 1 on TV, and it's amazing what Schumaker are doing, he's really a great sportsman... for me the best at least in the last race:D..
Bridgestone will provide tyres for all teams starting from next season, is it not? Is it my imagination or does it look like Michelin has had some troubles in recent races, and that could possibly contribute to Alonso's declining performance? And it also looks like Renault could have slowed down this year's development to car thus making it more harder?
There are now all sorts of rumours about drivers and teams for next season. It is said if Schumacher continues his career, Kimi would go to Renault, if not, he'd go to Ferrari. But now also they say Alonso is regretting his McLaren deal, and is looking to get out to stay in Renault...
All these don't look too good for Heikki Kovalainen to get a drive in Renault next season. For the life of me I don't know why Renault continue with Fisichella, the drivers being Kovalainen and Fisichella does not seem very likely, thus Renault looking for an experienced number 1 driver. Had they not signed Fisi, Kovalainen might have had a chance for a drive.

Renault keen on signing Raikkonen
Renault have set their sights on signing Kimi Raikkonen to replace world champion Fernando Alonso in 2007.
McLaren driver Raikkonen has been widely tipped to move to Ferrari, but Renault F1 president Alain Dassas said his team were also talking to the Finn.
"It's no secret, Raikkonen is our priority for the 2007 season," Dassas told Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport.
"We are talking with Raikkonen about a contract," Dassas said, describing him as "one of the greatest drivers".
He added that Renault would be "very satisfied" if the two parties could come to a definitive agreement.
Renault are also considering test driver Heikki Kovalainen as a partner for Giancarlo Fisichella, who is staying at the team.
But Dassas said the younger Finn's lack of experience was a negative.
"To have a driver with no experience like [Kovalainen] would be risky. In F1 nowadays, you need quick, immediate results, and it could be a problem to obtain them with a debutant."

Williams sign Toyota engine deal
Williams have announced they are to switch to Toyota engines next season in a new three-year deal.
Williams, who are currently powered by Cosworth after their split with BMW, will use the same specification engines as Toyota's own team.
"The agreement is the cornerstone of a challenge for the world championship," said team boss Frank Williams.
"We are proud to have secured their support in our efforts to return to our competitive best."
Williams have won 113 Grands Prix since 1979 and nine constructors' championships.
But their last titles were in 1997, when Canadian Jacques Villeneuve also won the drivers' crown.
They are currently eighth in this season's constructors' standings with 10 points while Toyota are fifth with 21.
Toyota entered F1 in 2002 but have yet to win a Grand Prix despite having one of the biggest budgets in the sport.
The new deal with Williams will mean the end of their agreement with the Midland team.
While Williams remain an independent team, the engine agreement could lead to greater cooperation with Toyota in future.
Williams said: "Toyota is an impressive and remarkable industrial giant, with the most phenomenal reputation for achieving the goals it sets itself.
"Both Williams and Toyota Racing see significant benefits from a relationship based on robust on-track competition and close off-track co-operation."
Toyota motorsport president John Howett added: "We are pleased to be selected as the engine provider to Williams and look forward to establish a strong relationship with them.
"We look forward to both teams using each other as a comparative benchmark from which each can improve its own performance and to competing with each other at the front of the grid."

MONZA, Italy, Sept 9 (Reuters) - Never mind who wins Sunday's Italian Grand Prix. The big question at Monza this weekend is what Michael Schumacher, Formula One's most successful driver, will say afterwards.
After months of feverish speculation, the anticipation has reached boiling point. There is only one story in town and it is Schumacher's future.
Schumi fans fear the worst, a red-shirted army hoping against hope that Ferrari's seven-times world champion does not do what many have predicted and announce that he is retiring at the end of the season.
"Michael, I beg you not to leave Ferrari," declared a handrwitten banner in Italian on the main grandstand. On the internet, there is an outpouring of messages urging the 37-year-old to stay.
Jackie Stewart, one of only a handful of Formula One champions to have quit at the top, thinks otherwise.
"If he were to win the world championship this year, and he's got every chance to do it, he should retire categorically," the triple champion told Reuters.
"Sport, unlike business, requires an athlete to recognise that some of his human attributes eventually diminish and you want to be out before that happens," added the Scot.
"Tiger Woods will retire before he loses it. So therefore you've got to make that decision."

It's funny, everything seems to focus on what happens after the race, even though if Ferrari's announcement will be anything else but Schumi retiring and Kimi driving for them it would be a surprise only then. And we have a very tight championship still ahead, and this race could well be a turning point if Schumi does well and Alonso not so good.
Next season should be fairly interesting, top drivers changing teams, who will have the best car next season?
As a Finn I am looking forward to next season, 2 Finns in top teams.

Alonso has to start from place 10 - he made a mistake with Massa and was put back 5 placesThat decision looked a bit suspicious, I'd have liked the championship be clean instead of all this kinds of tricks and controversy.
Since Alonso's engine blew, we can speculate if he could have saved his engine more if he didn't have to start at 10th place, so a lot of ifs and buts. But in the end situation now is that only 2 points separate Alonso and Schumacher, so last 3 races will be super interesting, with Ferrari having a slight advantage looking at how they have come back and seem a stronger team at the moment.
Kubica must have had a strange race, being at third for most of the race, then dropping to 5th when 10 laps to go, but since Alonso retired and Massa suffered, he got back up to third and to the podium in the end.
Well, the press releases came out and Schumacher will retire, and Kimi has a 3 year deal with Ferrari.

It's official: Schumi to retire
Sunday, 10, September, 2006, 14:46
Michael Schumacher will bring down the curtain on his glittering Formula 1 career at the end of this season.
Ferrari confirmed the momentous news moments in a press release issued moments after Schumacher sped to a glorious victory at Monza and slashed Fernando Alonso’s world title lead to a mere two points.
"Michael Schumacher will retire from race driving at the end of the 2006 world championship," the statement began.
The 37-year-old German, close to tears, confirmed his decision in a heart-rending statement during the post-race press conference at Monza.
He explained that the time had come for him to accept that his career had a finite shelf-life.
"One day the day has to come and I felt at a point that this is the moment," he said.
Speculation over Schumacher’s future plans has dominated the 2006 season to date.
Schumacher burst onto the F1 scene as a 22-year-old in 1991, qualifying seventh on his debut with Jordan at Spa.
His instant pace, and the awesome confidence with which he tackled F1’s most daunting circuit, immediately marked him out as a star of the future.
A year later at the same circuit, and now driving for Benetton, Schumacher scored his maiden grand prix win.
His partnership with the Enstone-based squad yielded back-to-back world championships in 1994 and 1995 despite what was generally acknowledged as a car disadvantage to Williams rival Damon Hill.
But the manner in which he won the ’94 title – unceremoniously turfing Hill off the track after making an error at the previous corner – set the tone for a career that would be dogged by controversy and question marks over his sportsmanship.
Schumacher moved to Ferrari in 1996 and brought with him the tight-knit nucleus of key figures including Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne with whom he had formed a close relationship at Benetton.
The car was initially a long way off the pace but Schumacher is credited with galvanising the Maranello team’s revival and subsequent period of dominance over the next decade.
The German’s five successive world titles from 2000 to 2004 ripped up the F1 record books; he eclipsed Juan Manuel Fangio’s long-standing mark of five titles in 2003 and set a new record of 13 wins in a single season in ’04.
By the end of that year Schumacher towered above all rivals in the pantheon of the sport in statistical terms.
But the rise of a generation of young stars – principally Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen – showed that even his seemingly immortal reign would come to an end one day.
After Raikkonen came close in 2003, Alonso finally dethroned Schumacher in ’05, an event that proved the catalyst for a maelstrom of media speculation about the date of his retirement.
The 2006 season has encapsulated the flawed nature of Schumacher’s genius.
On the one hand, he has demonstrated undiminished speed, skill and above all desire to win.
But that same all-or-nothing attitude saw him roundly condemned by F1 stars past and present after he was found to have intentionally parked his car during qualifying in Monaco to protect his pole position.
But, love him or loathe him, the statistics – and the countless stupendous drives over 16 years – testify to Schumacher’s other-worldly talent for racing drivers.

I think Ferrari has a lot to do with his success. I guess the best way to find out who the best driver is would be if they all had the exact same car. But F1 is a team effort, I'm sure other drivers would have won many more titles with Ferrari if they had been signed.

umm... not before 2000.
After Michael's first wins with Benetton in -94 & -95, it took several years for Ferrari to develop a car that would work perfectly with Schumacher... at this moment Ferrari's team is without argument the best there is... but what will the team be like next year..? that's anyone's guess... because, like you said: it's a team effort - and the chain is only as strong, as it's weakest link... change just one part - and it's not the same as before.
Räikkönen is to be the #1 driver at Ferrari next year - but does he hold the greatness it takes to win..?
That remains to be seen...

His doctors have told him that if he stays driving at this level his heart can have a lot of problems in a very recent future. They said that when he´s at the pit lane his pulse has increase to 190 per minute (I don´t know if its ok in english:uhh: I hope you can understand me) Something that has never happened him. It´s weird because last year he was the less nervous of all the drivers when the race was going to start. Maybe Alonso is killin him softly:p

Yeah you can laugh and think that he was desperate but Alonso only was 3 seconds apart from him at the last race and you know how many seconds he spent on boxes. About Alonso, don't get why to change a great team as Renault for an awful one as McLaren, and Massa in a couple of years could get the title.

We will miss you Schumi, you're simply the best F1 driver of all the time, even if some envious people didn't like your ways, but today you showed us the great driver you are.
I hope you can watch the live races next season Marika. Thanks! I will see how they broadcast the races in normal channel, if it's full but delayed, it's possible I won't get the paid version.
Schumi did a great job, coming from the very last to get in 4th position. Damn Fisichella, I'm pretty sure you did it all in purposeSchumacher drove a great race. But in my opinion you cannot blame Fisico for the tyre puncture as he was driving right at the edge of race track and did not move sideways at the time, it was Scumacher who cut in front of him, guess he miscalculated his or Fisichella's speed at that time. That tyre puncture didn't change anything to championship battle, all that might have changed was Schumi not ending up in the podium.
Ferrari were blindingly fast at the end of this season, and Massa has driven well, it's possible he is Championship contender next year. He is familiar with team and car while other Ferrari car is occupied by Kimi who is new to team, and Renault and McLaren will have driver changes also. Could be we will see many drivers battling it out for the Champioship.

THE YOUNGEST WINNER OF ALL THE F-1 TIMES DOES IT AGAIN!!!He´s the champion my friends and he kept on fighting till the end :D:D:D What a great day full of emotions for me, Alonso and Real Madrid winning

Exactly! I don´t understand where is the deal, although Shumacher would have finish first with any problems in his car Alonso would be still the champion this year. I am fed up of people talking about Schumi´s bad luck, c´mon anyone see the season or what? Kimi or Alonso are not complaining about bad luck. The first time in 6 years that he breaks the motor!! That´s not bad luck, that´s statistics, and sometimes Ferrari can also have problems.
I really hope that Kimi do it better than Massa next year:evil: Anyway, we will see next season what´s gonna happen, we will miss Schumi but one thing is for sure, Sena left the podium to Schumi and Schumi left the podium to Alonso. Alonsomania has already started!!!:bounce::bounce::bounce:
YOU GO BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is he laughing  :funny: What does that "cover" say?
Yeah, don`t see that too often.:uhh:
It says something like this:
Räikkönen`s toilet talks shocked millions of TV viewers:
I was having a s**t.
Well, like they say, truth hurts...
If you want to see that interview, go to Finland, Finland, Finland...thread, you might find that vid, but if this was enough, don`t go there.:p
I don´t understand where is the deal, although Shumacher would have finish first with any problems in his car Alonso would be still the champion this year.I wouldn't think he would have deprived Massa a win in his home GP. But he would have most likely been second in the race. Only if Alonso would have had to retire we would have seen the unpleasant overtaking. In my opinion, that would have tarnished Schumacher's championship anyway, Massa giving room for Schumi, so all in all it's better it happened this way.
Schumacher drove an excellent last race, and his fans should not be unhappy at all.
