I can't stand people who think I'm weird just because I like Shania Twain!! I don't give a dang!! Im a fan!! I can't help it!! My own cousin gets mad as soon as she hears me say the word 'Shania.' I was chatting with her a few minutes ago while testing some avatars that happened to have Shania on them and she blew up at me saying, "TARYN - CHANGE YOUR DISPLAY PICTURE NOW!!! YOU'RE GONNA EMBARRASS YOURSELF WITH THOSE KIND OF PICTURES!!!" Right now I don't care!! I am who I am and I like myself!! Shania is my idol and I dont care who knows!! Why should I be embarrassed? That I'll never get!! You don't see me laughing at her obsession over boys do you?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Shania is the biggest influence for me right now! Whenever I'm upset I play one of her songs and I'm on top of the world again! Her songs inspire me in everything I do! From writting to playing a sport! My cousin isn't the only one who judges me badly by liking Shania! Those so called 'cliques' with all those popular girls do it to! Without her I don't know where I'd be! Thank you Shania for everything you do!

Lot of people is very LOOSER! They don't know about the good music, they just rather listening to "popular music groups" or "plastic artist" who are always showing their body's instead of their own talent, who sing songs from other autor... when we have SHANIA here!! a songwriter! She's unique, and those people who say you that is bevause they have envy to the good music, they don't accept that! That ocurred me back with me but I just ignore them and follow my way with SHANIA!;)

You're right, I'm too 16, and the majority of my friends use to listen to punk or heavy rock groups; when at school I listen my music in my walkman, about shania, they always laugh at me, they say me that music is very old :uhh: and very ugly.. I only ignore them, but I laugh even more at them ebecause of their ignorance.. So don't pay any attention to anyone who criticize your own way to be, Be free!! Enjoy the good music! It's worth!;)

3/4 of the guys I know think I'm stupid or wierd because I like Shania Twain and not 50 Cent or Obie Trice. I wanna tell them this: I'd listen to your suggestions if I gave a [bleep] about what other people think about my music. I even think "At least my favourite singer happens to be a hot woman".
a great big number of friends think i'm weird when it comes to liking shania... that's their loss... they don't know great music, great face, great spirit... THEIR loss... u don't care... but as it turns out, i'm making my friends like her:D:D:D

heh... ;D when I started to listen Shania music, lot's of my friends said , that Shania is beautiful, but too old... and lot's of my friends don't like country or pop music... but they don't care about my taste of music... because the true friends don't care about that... ;)

I don`t know. My friends listen to White Stripes or Rolling Stones and other bands from this group, but they say, that Shania is talanted and she can really sing and they say, that it is good to listen to her sometimes.... Maybe they don`t like her like me, but we danced and were totally crazy at my birthday`s party in March. We danced to some songs of Shania.
My friends heard the cover of You Shook Me All Night Long from AC/DC and they say, that they like it, because all songs of AC/DC sounds similar in their opinion but Shania gave to this song something new with her voice. :)
P.S. They say, that Shania with her voice can sing something "harder".. :)
I want to say, that Shania`s music is only for people, who really know WHAT GOOD MUSIC MEANS. Many people from 13-18 don`t know it, so,Alex and other FANS, don`t worry...The time will come and they will understand what means word GOOD TASTE or GOOD MUSIC.. :great: :great:

Seriously though, my advice would be this,
The music you listen to, the movies you like, the clothes you wear etc. who should you try to please?
Yourself?
or
Other people?
At the end of the day it doesn't matter what other people think, most people who judge others badly for liking something "different", "obscure" or "uncool" (in their little world...) are usually too scared to acquire their own taste in things anyway, which is why they only like whatever is considered "hip".
Personally, I wouldn't allow a bunch of trend following sheep to influence what I think.
Be yourself.

Well, Taryn, if Shania is what makes you happy, by all means, listen away! There's no need to feel ashamed of what you like and believe in.

The best thing to do is ignore them and be yourself. If you don't respond to what they say they'll stop having a go at you. As you get older people will respect you more for doing your own thing.
Well I listen to Shania but I love all kinds of music Shania is my role model as an artist that she is. I dont listen to Shania all the time you have to leave room for that day when you miss her music so bad. But ignore the critics who have only watched her on tv and have never listened to a full album of hers in their life.

I really don't care what people think, and I pretty much am a walking billboard for the woman at work. Her name on everything I own. :p If I own it, its gotta have Shania Rules someplace. Everybody knows I'm a Shania fan, and if they don't like it tough.

Music, and the effect it has on you is a very personal thing. As long as you remain open to all music and do not shut yourself off you can laugh at your friends attempts to turn you away from Shania.
Follow your heart and you will seldom go wrong. Follow fads or trends or allow others to choose what is right or wrong, good or bad and you could find yourself on a course not of your liking.
When I started listening to Music in the mid 1950's the World, and in particular the MUSIC world was a more honourable and open place, run by people who cared about Music and the Aritist, not the money or fame.
When you phoned a Radio Station, they cared about you and played your request, not a computer generated playlist sent to them by an advertising agency or record label.
When a show on the mighty Radio Luxomburg, one of the Worlds GIANT commercial Radio stations way back when was sponsored by a record label, then you were told the fact.... It was the DJ saying "Welcome to the Fontanna label hour" and so on.
No dirty little payola deals going on behind your back. No 'just play the records I send you in the list and you will get high sales' stuff. No suites and accountants, just a common love for music.
Shania still has that love for music, Shania's husband still has that love for music. They write and publish to please themself and if there music touches our heart and soul, then we touch there's in return. As Shania gives, we take - but we all also give, we give her feedback and love and thanks and don't anyone say Shania and Mutt do not notice that.
If ANY of your so called friends think being a Shania fan is not cool, then chill - check out the latest news from Fan Convention number 4 online soon. Perhaps you will be able to show them and say... Now how cool is that!

Hey,girl I know how you feel. I have been there believe me. I was ridiculed in school because of my admiration of Shania and country music altogether by a lottt of morons. Both boys and girls mostly girls...They didn't know what they were talking about. I completely ignored them and thought they were just jealous of me and made an excuse to make fun of me for no good reason. They knew I was a performer and I was known as "Little Shania" or "Shania". They were just ignorant fools. My advice is to just completely ignore them and be who you want to be stay true to yourself stick to your guns. Don't back down from being a huge fan of Shania. ;)

i have the same problem people make fun of me when i say i like country music expescially shania twain. i get so mad, and i too play her songs when im upset......they also make fun of me when i say i like The Nanny.. they hate her voice.... i love it! ~we have a lot in common!~:D
