Punk pop songstress Avril Lavigne and Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley are expected to tie the knot this weekend in California, according to reports.
Friends and family of the famously private duo were reportedly notified of the plan weeks ago, when they were advised to book tickets immediately for California, CTV's eTalk reported earlier this month.
The pair own a house together in Los Angeles' ultra-rich Bel-Air neighbourhood.
Earlier reports had suggested the wedding would take place in late August, but intense media attention apparently prompted the couple to move up the date.
According to unconfirmed reports, Lavigne's bachelorette bash was at the end of June.
The risqué gifts were said to include a sexy bra, two sets of black panties with "The Mrs." embroidered in hot pink, and some handcuffs.
After opening her presents, Whibley joined Lavigne, donning a veil with devil horns. They and her 20 pals, at a hip Los Angeles eatery, had a party.
They capped the evening with a night out at celebrity nightclub Lobby where they partied alongside Jessica Alba and Nicky Hilton.
Though Lavigne has been quoted by media as saying she'd prefer to raise her children in Canada, recent reports suggest otherwise.
According to unconfirmed reports, 21-year-old Lavigne of Napanee, Ont., and 26-year-old Whibley of Ajax, Ont., are said to have put a nursery in their home.
Whibley, once linked to Paris Hilton, proposed to Lavigne last year in June while she was finishing up the European leg of her tour.
Us Weekly reported at the time that the pair began dating in early 2004 and had been friends for several years prior.
An English tabloid reported in 2004 that the pair got engaged but it turned out to be a hoax.
Whibley apparently pretended to propose to Lavigne in full view of the paparazzi, just to prove how easily it is to hoodwink the tabloids.
On a July 11 note to fans on her website, Lavigne made no suggestion of her impending nuptials.
"I hope your summer is going good. It's my favorite time of year. I'm working on my songs. It's all coming along great. I'm just taking my time. It's nice not being under pressure... that's the way it should be," she wrote.
Though the pair has been careful to keep their relationship under wraps, Lavigne can't help but wear her heart on her sleeve.
She has been sporting a small pink heart-shaped tattoo with the letter "D" on her right wrist.
The sk8ter girl has undergone a noticeable makeover in the past couple of years -- swapping her trademark tank tops, neck-ties, and heavy black eyeliner in favour of vintage Armani gowns, long flowing locks and a softer look that is more in line with the new face of Chanel.
"I'm growing up, I'm changing, I'm becoming a woman," she told lad mag Maxim in 2004, when she graced the cover wearing a black bustier.
Lavigne also confessed to the magazine that she has long harboured an attraction for guitar players.
"There's nothing sexier than a guy on stage rocking out with a guitar. It's really hot," she said.
