ahwww :( i recognize your feeling!
i can't wait for a new single video release... you can actually anticipate the feeling..:D:D:D
I think her old songs would keep me happy for years. Also her DVD's as well!

To be honest, I don't really miss Shania. I listen to other music more often, but I get back to Shania's cd's all the time.
Of course, I'm also looking forward to some new material, but I've also been thinking about Shania's privacy vs a new album. Because I think to me it's more important that Shania is happy with her family. I don't really need a new album. I would love to hear some new songs, or see Shania on tv or something, but I would feel guilty if she would tell in an interview that she wasn't able to spend as much time with her family as she wanted to because she had to release a new album.
That's more important to me than hearing new songs. But that's just my weird opinion I guess...

Same here..:(
That's more important to me than hearing new songs. But that's just my weird opinion I guess...That's not weird at all. But I think you can be satisfied, since to me it does look like Shania is cabable or doing both, taking time off for family, and then write songs, then all the promo and tour, and then family time again. She usually bunches up promotion, all of a sudden she is everywhere, then nothing :p Perhaps a little hard for some fans at times to wait for new stuff, but during the slow times there is good time to concentrate on past interviews and performances and music :)
I'm the same, I listen to a lot of other music. It also gives me something to look forward to, maybe if we had Shania releasing material all the time we wouldn't appreciate her as much. She needs a break, these things take time or else they won't be as good as she would want.

I need new Shania music... I can't remember the last time I put on one of her cds:uhh: I only listen to Shania when I'm listening to music on random mode on my computer. But I think that once she has a new cd out I'll start to listen to her more again...so in a way..I do miss Shania too.
I don't listen to her a lot now unless I'm watching a live DVD, or if I can't think of anything else to listen too. I do miss her now and again, but it doesn't really bother me. Her privacy and family life are more important than music. She'll be back when she's ready.

But now I have opened my eyes to artists I didn't give a second look before like Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, Jamie Cullum and Scissor Sisters :)

PLZ COME BACK SHANIA I MISS YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!
OK maybe this is the right thread to admit this.....ok believe me I'm as shocked if not more than everyone else, and my mates think its all a joke (its not). Maybe I've been driven to it by being starved of new Shania songs, or it could be that pressure from uni got to me because my craving started right in the middle of assignment hell one night.
OK I had a song in my head (like you do) and it went around and around. I saw the video for it on TV and thought, "actually, its not that bad". So in my head it stayed, and so I ended updownloading it. Then I couldn't stop playing it, its quite cutting edge and really well produced and they do have amazing voices. The people who produced it write songs for lots of current artists and wrote "believe" for Cher, I swear if Shania did her next album like this everyone would love it and we'd have another album the general public would buy in droves.
So then I thought, hmm what else have they done? So I downloaded a few more and ended up making my own little greatest hits collection (there are enough songs already). And that got played in the car when I put it on a cd.....for like the last 2 months EVERY TIME I DRIVE!
Then ok, yes, this was a bit of a jokey thing, I bought a poster for our student house, its a male thing.....
OK I'm really really sorry, I blame Shania for taking too long for all this.
Its...Girls Aloud
And I don't blame anyone for never talking to me again, I realise that a ban is without question, I have lost what little respect I may have had left. I'm willing to go for group sessions. PLEASE SHANIA HURRY UP!!!!
I'm going to regret that, aren't I? :funny:

No I mean the people who produced "believe" are called "Xenomania" link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenomania) , they write the Girls Aloud material. If you actually listen to the production, its really excellent, very edgy. Once you get past the thinking that they are a girl group you see they are actually pretty good and each of them a brilliant singer.

If you want something to defend yourself against people's bad reactions, I use this.....the songs are good. Its true. You wouldn't buy stuff unless you actually liked it. I tried HARD to avoid buying Girls Aloud but still did. Britney, well I like Toxic as a song...stupid video and yes she's lost the plot but its a clever song. And its not about fancying them either, or you'd just buy the poster. Eek I already did that too though. :hide:
Try to imagine Shania singing these songs, if you like how that seems then its ok to like them.
Thanks Matty for still talking to me. :funny:

I've actually never heard of the Sugababes so I did some research. I also found 'other' 'interesting' photos. Does hiding behind a chair wearing only pantyhose ring a bell? :funny:
Is this considered a talented group?
They're very successful over here and the music press like them too which is unusual for a girl group. I think they are considered more edgy than Girls Aloud, more attitude and aggression.
For any UK fans its the Brit Awards tonight - Girls Aloud will be there and maybe Sugababes, and Paul McCartney will get the lifetime achievent award. Should be amazing.
Hockeystick
02-20-2008, 12:00pm
So people for the most part like their material and they're not just another girl group, objects, or all image? Anything like the spice girls?
I also don't follow Girls Aloud, but I've heard of them. And the time I finally discovered the Brit Awards it was when Shania was there handing an award to Justin Timberlake. :D
I'd say so, its definately about the music and attitude. girls Aloud and Sugababes are more adult girl groups than the Spice Girls, they were more gimmicky and about the image. You only have to hear their voices to know they are good. Nothing like the Spice Girls at all. Chances are if you go out anywhere at night you'll hear a lot of these two groups.
Ah yes Shania at the Brits - she was due to perform at Wembley. We were all waiting for her to arrive because she had to stop off and present a Brit award! They stopped the London traffic and the police gave her an escort to Wembley Arena to get her there in time. :D True!

Thanks for your take and opinion on it.
Shania tends to get many streets shut down when she makes a presence. :D
She's like major political world leader or major religious leader when she comes to town.
And of course this is a piece of what Mark McGrath had to say about his Shania experience:
"...We took private planes, went to lots of shows in Holland and Germany, she gets escorted everywhere, and the mayor shuts down the street. She's at such a superstar level, but she's the most down-home, girl-next-door-type person ever. She kind of laughs at the whole thing and doesn't expect it. It's inspirational how she handles things. She's the most normal-person mega-superstar, two things you don't usually hear in the same sentence."
The Brit awards were pretty good. As usual they picked the "trendy" acts as winners but some great performances. Mostly Leona Lewis who was AMAZING, Kaiser Cheifs and Sir Paul McCartney. When the show went off the air he continued to do a free concert for everyone there, what a cool guy.
