Lance Bass reveals that he's gay
Singer tells People that he's in relationship with ‘Amazing Race’ winner

NEW YORK - Lance Bass, band member of ’N Sync, says he’s gay and in a “very stable” relationship with a reality show star.

Bass, who formed ’N Sync with Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick, tells People magazine that he didn’t earlier disclose his sexuality because he didn’t want to affect the group’s popularity.

“I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys’ careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything,” he tells the magazine.

’N Sync is known for a string of hits including “Bye Bye Bye” and “It’s Gonna Be Me.” The band went on hiatus in 2002. Bass has also found headlines for undertaking astronaut training and failing to raise money for a trip into space.

Bass says he wondered if his coming out could prompt “the end of ’N Sync.” He explains, “So I had that weight on me of like, ‘Wow, if I ever let anyone know, it’s bad.’ So I just never did.”

The singer says he’s in a “very stable” relationship with 32-year-old actor Reichen Lehmkuhl, winner of season four of CBS’ “Amazing Race.”

Bass and Fatone, 29, are developing a sitcom pilot inspired by the screwball comedy “The Odd Couple,” in which his character will be gay.

“The thing is, I’m not ashamed — that’s the one thing I want to say,” Bass says. “I don’t think it’s wrong, I’m not devastated going through this. I’m more liberated and happy than I’ve been my whole life. I’m just happy.”

I respect anyone who can come out and just be what they are. To be in the situation he was in all thise years you have to know it was difficult if he would have outed himself then the group would have been judged most definately. I am glad he can finally be happy in his life. It traps you when your not out and it does hurt really i know how it is I hurt everyone who doesnt know because to me Im not being the full person that i am. I am me for the most part Im a giving, loving, caring and smart person who has major goals. I just wish it was easier in these times and everyone who does do it makes it easier for others. So many people are not living their fullest potencials emotionally because their trapped between the public judgement of gay and lesbians and even bisexuals. It's very difficult it physically hurts your soul I have been in those moments.

Being gay though isn't your whole identity it is only a part of you. So like lance said when asked if he's gay... "I'm also gay" he wont have to hide that part anymore.

I think it is great Im happy for him that hopefully someone will find his strength in their own selfs to be able to be out to just even one person. Im out to a friend of mine.

That is a great sight what you're saying about that. Many gay or homosexual people have to live caught of their feelings because they cannot show them to the others, for scare to be discriminated. It's a pitty the society never change with this matters. Anyway, but it's some very true what you're saying!;)
