I was writing a poem for a contest on poetry.com and I had been debating which poem I should use and It is dedicated to Shania. I sent in the poem like 2 months ago and I got mail from them and my dad told me the news. So it will be published in a book with tons of poems. This contest is now important since Im a semi finalist I have the chance to win the grand prize of 10,000.00 but nothing is a sweet as the publication itself thats the best part.
I emailed the centre telling them so hopefully I could send them a copy to put on display at the fan convention as soon as I get a copy.
The poem is entitled "Idol" I'm very shocked that I got into the contest I ddint expect them to select me as a finalist out of so many other talented writers.
I am getting an invitation to attend a special event in Las Vegas even if I dont win I am still so proud of myself.
Idol
to Shania
Our idol is everything a mark that is untouched
Over the years she has given so much
The music stands strong
She dares to be different
A league of her own
Now the question is this
What will she do next
A woman to many an artist to so many more
A Canadian, a singer, a mother, a fighter, a survivor
You are the fan's Idol.
