Thanks to Spock for posting this on the other board.
Here are the topics
Track 1.....She thanks the label, the band and Mutt.
Track 2.....What Shania does to unwind
Shania rides her horse, and doing the show at night help take some of the pressure away. Does she miss Mutt? She is always missing him. They are seperated a lot. Mutt would have loved to have been at the party. Shania is going to call him. He is proud of what Come On Over is doing. Is Shania willing to be country's flagship artist in 1999, since Garth is off and LeAnn Rimes is off as well??? Shania says she will be working in 1999 and toward the end of the year she will take off to begin writing the next album. Her Rolling Stone cover, what are her decisions in her image. She says she goes in plays with the clothes and make up, and take some pictures, then look at the pictures, and select them. She doesnt get a stylist involved, she wants to feel comfortable. If she likes what she sees, she goes with it.
Track 3.....Recognition from different formats
She loves it for the music and for herself. Talks about growing up in Timmins listening to stations that played all kinds of music. She loves having access to all the different fans. No artist restrictions.
Track 4.....Concert in Nashville / Leahy
Not feeling pressure personally, but pressure is put on her. She doesn't take it personally. She always wants to be better. Leahy was picked because they were difficult to catogorize. They get a standing O all the time. This is where the quote...."I find that the very things that I get criticized for, which is usually being different and just doing my own thing and just being original, is the very thing that's making me successful." comes from.
Track 5.....Maintain the closeness to the fans, interacting on stage..etc
She says as long as she can get up on stage it will always be that way. She has always been that way in bars, etc. She loves being part of the crowd.
Moving to Switzerland..
We didnt have to move, she moved for the sake of the studio. Where could they build a studio in private. There is a lot of music in the community they are living in. Shania said they have a home in south west florida where she is staying while on the coo tour.
Track 6 continued....
Asked about moving to Canada. She is looking to buying a small cottage to be near her family there, live by a lake. Bringing kids starting out on stage, gives them a chance to be infront of a crowd. Kids as young as 8. Local choir, local high school and drum corp. Off stage...she travels on the bus between shows, she meets with kids before the show.
Shania's vision got her to where she is, what is the vision for 1999 into 2000....In her career, the music dictates everything, no grand picture, it's not a "great plan". She is going to write the next album, Mutt and her will collaborate on what they have been writing separately, and what personality she wants to give the album. Then Mutt can make is sound anyway they want. She hasn't decided what "voice" she wants to give the album.
Track 7
She talks about hearing fans sing her songs. She loves to see and hear the fans singing her songs. It is everything to hear her songs and share in the magic.
Track 8
It blows her mind that kids as young as 3 know the words to the songs. Will Shania do grassroots country more next time. She says since she is on tour she has cut back on doing the publicity, and promotion. Evolution of songwriting, Honey I'm Home....she says it is not a big revolution, music was much more frank back when she listened to country, like Take This Job and Shove It. Finds her music more traditional, with a 90's twist. Her music is realistic, role reversals and satire. Sense of humor to the changing times and struggles.
Track 9
How does shania want to be remembered....A huge singer from the 90s, or a popular writer? She would love to be remebered as a writer, it's a timeless thing. She was much happier being in the background, and her mom shoved her in the spotlight. It is more personal to her, a star is a fleeting thing.
