I was going through the news update in the Northwest Indiana News website and i bumbed into a Dixie Chicks article... They listed Shania in the introduction saying:
...that "Hank Williams couldn't get played on country radio nowadays" and that Shania Twain is "the highest-paid lap dancer in Nashville."
for me, this is pure Shania criticism... negative criticism...

The lap dancer thing was said by "Steve Earle" not the Dixie Chicks. He said that many years ago now, and when Shania won the Entertainer of the Year Award in 1999 from the CMAs, she said when asked for comment "I guess it shows I'm more than just a lap dancer afterall.":D

Old story. Shania has commented it a few times herself with sarcastic remarks and that is all attention it deserves. She might be sexy, but never has she danced on anybody's lap in Nashville... which exactly is the biggest problem there methinks.
ok....well Shania ain't no lap dancer, new OR old....and i hear Hank Williams on the radio all the time and i have a few CDs and Records of him too so there ya go.. i am a fan of him too and the juniors :P lol but of course Shania is the only one:D

i think that this is positive for shnaia because hey are saying that she is very pretty but i also think that it is negative because they are saying that she is a **** which she is not
This article has some years back, I'd already read it and I really didn't like the content, but watching how they describe shania was so funny, because while they criticize her they talk very cute about her. Of course I can't be happy with this kind of stuff but they're fake info that people got to invent to make publicity.

I was very insulted by that initially. Now, I don`t really care, I guess. I doubt if he would say that again although you never know, some people are arrogant enough to insult you twice over. Maybe he genuinely did think that. He`s certainly entitled to his opinion. But I haven`t thought about it since. I think he would take it back now.
Do you think, in a fair fight, you`d kick his ***?
I think my songs do that for me.

that is quite a shame . people belittleing other people .this world is set to much on the negative side of thing's than more so on the postive side..
i think a person whom gossips and say's negtive things .about someone is only feeling insecure about one self's..quite a shame.if you cant say something nice than it shouldnt be said at all.

I agree, she's one of the few genuine celebrities around these days. She is able to stay out of the limelight and still manages to have millions of people who adore her. There are very few artists out there right now that could accomplish that. Most of them only make record sales because they go out of their way to constantly be in the media *cough*Paris Hilton*cough*. I know it's definitely one of the things I respect Shania for the most. She can handle any situation she's in with complete class.

I think if you look back over the time she has been a celeb, this was probably the closest she came to dissing anyone. One of the many things I truly admire about Shania is that she has never run anyone in her industry down. Apparently her ego has not had a big tumor growth like many stars of today.:love:

I was referring to the Steve Earle thing. She handled it very well and didn't stoop to his level of ignorance. When she won the EOTY from the CMAs in 1999, she said she guessed she had showed she was more than just a lap dancer after all when asked about the award by the media. That was a hell of an answer without getting into specifics. She got back at Earle without him able to make a comeback.;)
