I have finally sorted all the pictures from my holidays in California and I thought I’d share the best shots with you guys. It was kinda hard to pick out just a few pics lol..so it’s still quite a lot! Unfortunately I don’t have time to post a review with the pics...so just ask me if you have any questions!!

What route did you take, wasn't quite sure of couple of the places.

What's the smoke/cloud around Golden Gate Bridge?

Love the streetcar/hill pictures, the prison fence/sun pics, etc etc, some very artistic ones :up:

That geysir was where? Is that white building governor's house?

You captured a squirrel on the the way down from tree, wow
and the insect later on, what zoom! :shocked:

Holy _ _ _ _!!! :shocked: Mel....seriously....become a photographer! Or at least consider doing photography on the side [ taking photographs at Shania concerts :p ]
I too am interested in photography and can tell if people have potential to be a good photographer, and you have it written all over those photographs!! :D Seriously consider it Mel, those are some of the most amazing pictures I've seen in a while! Having so many gorgeous things surrounding you to take pictures of also adds to the beauty of the photos, but still...lol...there is totally talent in those photos...
My faves pics are the 2 macro shots of the Dragonfly...I absolutely love dragonflies, so that's why...but honestly - all of these pictures are incredible! It would be hard for me to choose which out of all those beautiful landscape shots I like most :)

What's the smoke/cloud around Golden Gate Bridge?

The smoke around the bridge is sea fog from the Pacific Ocean. The Golden Gate is almost every day covered in clouds..lol you can be lucky if you are able to see the whole bridge.

Love the streetcar/hill pictures, the prison fence/sun pics, etc etc, some very artistic ones :up:

That geyser is the "Little Old Faithful Geyser" in Calistoga/Napa Valley. Yep, the white building is the Governor's house. It's the California State Capitol building in Sacramento.

Where were the bears at?

The bears were at Lake Tahoe (http://www.visitinglaketahoe.com/), but you can see them almost everywhere in the woods.

The small but high waterfall is spectacular!

Yeah, that's the Yosemite Falls in Yosemite National Park. It's North America's highest waterfall!

Where were the seal pics taken at?

The pics of the elephant seals were taken on "highway number 1" between Santa Barbara and Carmel..but you can also see a lot of seals in the bay area between Carmel and Monterey. :love:

Thank you sooooo much Jennster!!! I love taking pictures and I was thinking about becoming a photographer a few years ago, but I wasn't quite sure if that would be the right job for me and so I picked another job. Photography is just one of my hobbies at the moment and I enjoy taking pictures whenever I have time to do it. Maybe I'll start another training to become a photographer when I've finished my gardener training, but I ain't sure yet.
I have many opportunities and I have to see what's right for me.

By the way, what type of camera did you use?
I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2

That geyser is the "Little Old Faithful Geyser" in Calistoga/Napa Valley. Yep, the white building is the Governor's house. It's the California State Capitol building in Sacramento.

The bears were at Lake Tahoe (http://www.visitinglaketahoe.com/), but you can see them almost everywhere in the woods.

Yeah, that's the Yosemite Falls in Yosemite National Park. It's North America's highest waterfall!

The pics of the elephant seals were taken on "highway number 1" between Santa Barbara and Carmel..but you can also see a lot of seals in the bay area between Carmel and Monterey. :love: Thanks for all your answers. I will look at the pics again with the route map and this knowledge.

Hmn, if I was about 20 yrs younger, I could invite you, Per and a few others over, and we could take a similar tour. I could probably afford the funds, but probably not have that much energy any more. I toured a house today in the country, several miles outside my city. I could just about afford it, if I spent my lifetime savings and most of my future income on it. I think I'll stay where I am, for the time being. I've been out of debt almost all my life. That leaves lots of other options for recreation and fun, even though my home is more humble than most of my peers and former co-workers.

ago. But did not get to see some of the places you did, like fisherman's wharf
during the daytime, etc.

Some really fine pics of the fog shrouding parts of the Golden Gate Bridge.
That bridge is a scary place to driver over some times. Tracy at the Shania
Twain Center would almost have heart failure, just to imagine driving over the
bridge when it looks like that.

Alaskan wilderness. Your next pic has a bear beside a building..., and his ears

Uh-oh, there's Half Dome (pic # 1080599). Must be you were in Yosemite.
I've climbed a lot higher than that. But never climbed anything so difficult as
that. Rock climbing is a lot harder than mountain climbing, even though most
rock climbing is done at altitudes well below the tops of tallest mountains these days.

Your pictures all seem to have good lighting, contrast, and decent focus.
They include long range vistas, to close ups of flowers and insects. What
kind of camera did you use, and what was the range and power of the lense?

still like to know the lense power/range.

What is this picture about? #1080689. Looks like green grass in sun, framed
by deep forest more in shadows. Was it an avalanche slope?

1080706. This one kinda takes the viewer's breath away. Reminds me of
some views I had while doing a solo climb of a Colorado mtn of 14,265 ft,
named Castle Peak a couple yrs ago. That was the tallest peak in th Elk Mtn
range, between Aspen and Crested Butte. Except here, you still have trees
beside you. So you must have been below tree line, which is usually around
10,000 ft more or less, depending on temperaturs and rainfall.

Next pic is of the tall waterfall, among larger waves of sweeping rock.
Amazing rock formations. All that vertical surface is enough to give some
folks motion sickness.

I saw John Muir Woods, with some giant redwoods. But I don't think General
Grant drive-a-car-thru-the-middle tree was there.

Hollywood, some beautiful beach shots. You really got around! What are you
going to have left to do for the rest of your life?

#1080910 I love that pic of big cat under red Radio Flyer toy wagon. At
first, because of your close up, I thought it was a jungle cat in a zoo
someplace.
