Of course Shania will be in this as long as they dont cancell this show. Actually there should be 3 Shania albums in there and all 3 should be in the Top 15. COO should be #1 or #2 if they go by sales, which even if they don't it should still be on top.

Come On Over was a breakthrough album any all genres of music. Whether the creaters of the show liked it or not, it's impact on country music was one of the biggest in the industry in years. Only Garth Brooks impacted country music on the same level as Shania Twain with TWIM and COO. To not include COO is just a huge slap in the face to Shania and what she's done for country music.

That stinks. The Woman In Me maybe as the countriest one, but not one of the best to be on that list. Maybe it's usurping Come On Over place:p But I'm not mad at this situation, that's great album too. Or perhaps COO need a break after long time being in the main list of best selling albums, why not?:D

To be fair, the only artists to have more than one album on the list was Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. I mean Shania beat out Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, George & Tammy, Faith Hill, Dixie Chicks, etc. I was hoping COO would be on there as well, but I think for the most part, it was trying to get everyone that had great albums on there. The Dixie Chicks should have had 3 albums on there as well. People like Tim McGraw, Vince Gill, and Patsy Cline didn't even make it.

This has more to do with its influence on music and other artists than sales, if sales where the factor of this list practically everybody on it would be gone from the list. COO was a continuation of what TWIM started. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying that COO shouldn't be on the list. The fact of the matter is it did its job turning the world onto country for alittle bit anyways. She did make it more accesible for more people around the world, and thats not all bad, I don't think so anyways. :D

Here is the transcript done by Chris from the other board of Shania's part

#8 Shania......clips include...Boots, AMOM, IOH

Billy Currington....This chicks hot, you know this is cool I liked it, but I don't think it was until AMOM that made everyone's ears perk up and say who was this chick?

Julie Roberts....I still listen to it, it's in my car now

Keith Stegall (producer)....I knew it was really good. I didn't know how big it was actually going to be. You gotta give credit to Mutt's genius, she's a great writer also, a great singer.

Matt Pinfield (Music Historian)....that chemistry between the husband and wife team of Mutt and Shania, made for a killer combination.

Chet "the flipper" Flippo....without mutt lange there is no Shania, he was such a sonic genius..the sounds he created for her put country in the 21st Century.

Keith Stegall (producer)....There was that whole thing that women don't sell records, then here comes Shania.

Chet "the flipper" Flippo....When Shania broke the 10 million barrier, it really shattered expectations.

David Wild (Rolling Stone)....A counrty woman could be as big as any man in history. In her case she is one of the biggest record sellers in the world

Julie Roberts....She opened the country world to everybody.

I'm surprised about COO too... Breathe by Faith Hill made it and that album is more pop than country (I wasn't impressed with it either), so why couldn't COO make it since it fits the same description (plus it's only one of the biggest selling albums of all time  lol)...so the whole crossover excuse doesn't work.

I am glad about some of those albums making it. That was good that they did include the Chicks too!

Btw, thanks Andrew for posting the comments :)

Btw, thanks Andrew for posting the comments :)Good question and I think you have a good point there with Breathe. I think COO was a continuation of what TWIM started, but that was more effective in making her a house hold name world wide, where TWIM was pretty much North American based. Not that I'm knocking TWIM cause its where it all started.

CMT has drastically altered their airing schedule (http://www.cmt.com/shows/dyn/greatest_series/108936/episode_showtimes.jhtml) for the "40 Greatest Albums" (http://www.cmt.com/shows/dyn/greatest_series/108936/episode.jhtml) special.

They have dropped 3 re-airing from their schedule.

This is the only airing left on the CMT schedule (http://www.cmt.com/shows/dyn/greatest_series/108936/episode_showtimes.jhtml):

Friday, October 6 - 11 pm Eastern (http://www.cmt.com/shows/dyn/greatest_series/108936/episode_showtimes.jhtml)

I guess the special didn't get good ratings. Otherwise, I don't see any reason to drop that many re-airings from the schedule. :dunno:

Shania's TWIM should have been in the top 5 IMO. She really broke the mold and opened doors with a great masterpiece. It can stand next to any country album ever. Faith's Breathe was on the list so I do think the impact of a follow Up album like COO to TWIM should be considered. Its huge success and cross-over appeal did wonders. TWIM should be top 5 and COO should have been on the list somewhere, maybe between 30-40 considering what was at stake here.
