I have long held a fascination about Oriental cuisine.

Growing up my family was partial to Italian food and Chinese (American-style) food in particular.

While I cook a mean paella my special love is Oriental food and the secrets involved in making it well.

In the past few years I have formed a special love for two dishes:

Singapore Mai Fun

and

Pad Thai

Singapore Mai Fun can be found at many Chinese (American) restaurants in the US and Pad Thai can be found there too but of course also at Thai and other Oriental restaurants at times.

I made my first pad thai at home recently using pad thai sauce and unfortunately it turned out sweeter than I would of liked. It seems that in Thai restaurants they make it sweeter than I like and at Chinese (American style) restaurants they make it spicier and not sweet and much more to my liking.

The point of this thread is to generate discussion about Oriental food and what you like and don't like etc.

If any of you are familiar with these two dishes I would love to hear from you about them.

I am giving links to these dishes for those of you not familiar with them:

Hmm, sorry, my experiences are mostly confined to a couple of buffet type of Oriental 'restaurants'. I am not sure those experiences are good enough to start commenting on oriental food. :uhh:

If you can find a joint that offers singapore mai fun or pad thai your taste buds will be ecstatic possibly.
