I can't read PMs other than my own.

Not sure about that, I think you have to log on, unless you save them.

No and yes.
The PM and its message is in the email notifying the member. So they can get the message of the PM in there email WITHOUT logging into the forums.

I know you can read PMs throught the e-mail it generates, but I didn't know it showed up as read on the forums unless it was read throught the forums. Interesting.
