LONDON -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 03, 2006 -- American performing right organization Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) saluted the top European songwriters, composers and publishers at its 2006 London Awards, staged Oct. 3 in the Ballroom of London's Dorchester Hotel - honoring the past year's most-played songs on U.S. radio and television.
"Million-Air" certificates were also presented throughout the evening in recognition of those songs that have achieved over three million U.S. radio and television performances -- or the equivalent of more than 17 years of continuous airplay.
"You're Still the One", written and recorded by Shania Twain (PRS), reached the six million performance plateau.
"Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?", written and recorded by Shania Twain (PRS), reached the three million performance plateau.
"Party For Two," written and recorded by Shania Twain (PRS), received The Country Award
Now celebrating more than 65 years in business, BMI is an American performing right organization that represents more than 300,000 songwriters, composers and publishers in all genres of music. With a repertoire of more than 6.5 million musical works from around the world, the non-profit-making corporation collects license fees from businesses that use music, which it then distributes as royalties to the musical creators and copyright owners it represents.
