Greetings all. Please accept my most sincere apologies for not posting lately - my connection's been playing up out here in the Shires.
So...Shock! Horror! Shania hasn't been nominated for a C. M. A. Award this year! Nevertheless, it is likely that she will be presenting an award in order to bring in the odd extra million viewers. So, grasping on to that somewhat tenuous piece of string, I shall, again, watch the awards this year.
Does anybody know when they are to be shown in the U. K.? They are on Monday 6th November and, in the unlikely event that my memory serves me correctly, are usually shown on BBC2 the following Tuesday.
Please enlighten me!

I still carry the firm opinion, that the CMAs DO NOT deserve Shania's presence...
...they should try to lure in the viewers on their own.

I agree, but her fans would obviously enjoy seeing her there, and we've been extremely patient, so I think her fans do deserve Shania's presence there.
Don't do it for the CMAs, Shania. Do it for your fans.

I think it would be awesome if they never announced her and then had her as a surprise guest debuting her brand new single! Like Trisha Yearwood did at the CMT awards. Oh to dream.:):p

Well, I have no interest in the CMAs. I will not watch if Shania is there but only to present an award. If Shania shows up to perform, I'll watch.
My other interest is the Dixie Chicks. Needless to say they were not invited to the CMA. But because the Chicks keep their fans well informed, I know they will be performing at the American Music awards on Nov. 21. So I will watch that for sure.
If Shania was there I would watch 100%!!! And if she came up on stage, I would make a partyyy!!! :D:D:D:D Just to say something, I would be thrilled:p

LOL!! Yeah, but I am old and jaded. With any luck, a clip of Shania presenting at the CMAs would appear on YouTube anyway.

Well, I'll watch no matter what. I've got to support my future girlfriend Carrie Underwood anyway.;):p But it would be awesome to see Shania even if it is just to present. One minute is better than nothing.:)

As others have said, the CMAs (and ACMs) truly don't deserve Shania's attendance.
Granted, it is nice to see her make public appearances/performances, but they just USE her for ratings.
Shania's name, image, and music are used in the CMA/ACM commercials - no matter if she's scheduled to attend the show or not - to lure viewers to watch the show.
A prime example of this is the 2002 CMA ads (http://www.cbs.com/specials/36cma/video/video.shtml).
Just look at the ads for this year's 2006 CMA show.
The 2006 ads feature Shania's image and clips from Shania's "I Ain't No Quitter" video.
Is Shania even scheduled to attend the 2006 CMA show? NO.

Well Shania's not obligated to come you know.
Shania & Mutt are wise enough to know all this. And the CMA's are not taking advantage of Shania. Shania's "taking advantage" of the CMA's. It will keep her in the spotlights and this way she's letting people know she's still out there..

Yeah unfortunately with Shania being out of the limelight for nearly a year, she wouldn't have any plans or reasons to attend this year's CMAs. They sure do love using her name and image for commercials but sadly they won't be getting any high rating without Shania around. :p
Still a nice thought...
well... of course, now I just remember her dancing around the stage!! With long hair.. that's all;)

For anyone in the U. K., the C. M. A. Awards will be shown on BBC2 on Saturday 11th November 2006 between 11:30 to 01:00...so stock up on your coffee!!!

i wouldn't waste the time but thats me i had a bad day monday anywat i fell into a rain puttle in the street from my wheelchair and people staired and even called 911! i was already mad enough but than the bus home was 90 min late sorry 4 griping:rolleyes:

Actually they did. They showed a clip show and then the full awards late on at night. I've got the full show somewhere, I was out so I taped both to make sure I got Shania's parts.
I don't think I'll bother watching it this year.
Atleast is good to hear Shania was present in clips instead.....;)

I didn't bother watching and it was a joke as usual. Too much junk and Nashville political as usual.
It's only worth watching when the class act of Shania attends.

I mean the only time I didn't watch the CMAs in the last decade was 2001 and this year. Just so happens to be the years Shania didn't attend. I use to at least enjoy the performances even if the awards were pure political but nowadays if that is not so hot. This newer acts I just don't know what to think...
