What words do people mispronounce differently that bug you?

Some words that come quickly come to my mind...
- tomato: pronounced like "To-may-tah", "Ta-ma-der."
- idea: ... "id-er"
- ask: ... "axe"
- temperature: ... "tem-pra-ture"
- interac [debit]: ... "Inter-act"
- duct tape: ... "duck tape"
- library: ... "li-bary"
- pronounce: ... "pro-nunce"
- schedule: ... "shed-ule"

Some others that I have come across...
- across: ... "across-ed"
- escape: ... "ex-cape"
- foliage: ... "foil-age"

Just to make things clear - I'm not looking for different terms that people use for words [ex. washroom: toilet, can, the crapper, ect.]

There are oodles of other mispronounced words out there, so whether it's you who chooses to pronounce something differently, or you have a friend who pronounces them differently, share them with us.

Oh yeah, love that one!

I've been watching alot of cooking shows lately, and an amazing number of people seem to say "confectionate" sugar instead of confectioners sugar!

Speaking of cooking shows, there's a lady named Paula Deen who makes really good Southern food, but her accent drives me NUTS!!! For example, she says:

-Oil ..... "ole"
-For...."fuh"
-Avocado..."Avacada"
and the one that makes me cringe the most...
-Cup...."cohp"

How about people who say "Kindegarden" instead of "Kindergarten"

That's all I can think of right now, but I'm sure I'll be back!

"Integral" is mispronounced by many sports broadcasters so badly I don't even recognize the word they are trying to use at times...

Some English speakers make up forms of words and pronounciations they are somewhat unfamiliar with.

What is interesting is they constantly repeat these mispronunciations so that some in their audience get the idea these turkeys know how to pronounce words. Mozzerella is another word always subject to mispronunciation. Instead of the moo sound for the first syllable they say matz or mutz...

But if you realize, that's an italian word, so the "zz" is pronounced like "mutz" or "matz" whatever is on english... in spanish is pronounced just like italian way.

I grew up in New York and am half Italian and I never heard it pronounced any other way than "moo" for the 20 or so years I lived there.
