I just wanted to say how special and interesting this story is...
It is a book written by Stephen King and I just LOVED the story.. it's full of symbols and very interesting stuff...

It was made as a movie by horror movie king Stanley Kubrick (1980) (available on DVD) starring Jack Nicholson but the result was not that special to me (although everyone keeps saying it's a classic)

But, in 1997, it was adapted as a TV miniseries (available on DVD). It's a 4.55 hour movie that is simply GREAT!! I strongly recommend it...

I've seen the film and I really enjoyed it. I do intend to read the book one day, I imagine as with most book to film adaptations the book is better.

I didn't know about the miniseries. Thanks for the info.

...I wouldn't necessarily call Stanley Kubrick a "horror movie king", but otherwise I agree with most of what you said, except that Mr. Kubrick did succeed in capturing the claustrophopic feel of the snowbound hotel remarkably well... taking it with the prominent use of audiovisuals, perhaps even beyond the author's envision...

...I guess one could say: I liked it... it's absolutely a classic.

I hear Stephen King himself hated Kubriks version of his book. I also hear he hated Jack in the movie himself.

Yeah that's true :great: King hated Kubrick's version so he made the second version;) the TV miniseries

It's a great film, Alex;) Although I suggest you watch Stephen King's THE SHINING...
