In the recent "Country Weekly" issue, dated November 20, 2006 (http://www.countryweekly.com/images/cw/208981/51073.jpg), there's a nice Flashback article + Photo of Shania from when she was honored for the 10 Million sales of "The Woman In Me" (http://www.amazon.com/Woman-Me-Shania-Twain/dp/B000001E68/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_3/002-0414131-9809615).

(The country duo Sugarland is on the cover of the Nov. 20 (http://www.countryweekly.com/images/cw/208981/51073.jpg) issue.)

The Shania Flashback article + Photo are on Page 66 of the issue.

Here is the article from Page 66:

Music Flashback

Shania Sets the Mark

"My goal is to appeal to as many people as I can," Shania Twain said in a 1998 Country Weekly interview. "The more people who hear your music, the more satisfied you are as an artist."

Given Shania's astonishing sales for her breakthrough album, The Woman in Me (http://www.amazon.com/Woman-Me-Shania-Twain/dp/B000001E68/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_3/002-0414131-9809615), she had to be the most satisfied star on the planet. In early 1997, the album became the all-time best seller by a country female star when it reached the nine million mark, surpassing Patsy Cline's Greatest Hits. It featured the smash hits "Any Man of Mine," "You Win My Love," and more, all written by Shania and her husband/producer, "Mutt" Lange.

"For me, not singing my own material is just so awkward," Shania revealed. "I don't want to be seen as just a pretty face with a pretty voice, that type of thing."

On Nov. 17, 1997, Shania became the first---and still to this day---country female solo artist to sell 10 million copies of an album. "What has given me such satisfaction is that this album has sold on its own," Shania once noted. "I didn't have a tour. I didn't package a marketing thing."

Shania outdid herself with her follow-up, Come On Over (http://www.amazon.com/Come-Over-Shania-Twain/dp/B000001EW3/ref=pd_ecc_rvi_3/002-0414131-9809615). With the official tally now at 20 million, it's the best-selling country album of all time.

This issue is actually from last week.

This November 20 issue with Sugarland on the cover might still be available in some stores.

Certain stores (such as maybe Walgreens, Eckerd/CVS Pharmacy) keep magazines like "Country Weekly" on the stands a couple of days after other stores have put out the new issues.

If you know of a store that tends to do that, that will be your best bet for finding this issue.

I am sorry about the late notice. I just received the issue today.

wasn't Gary Chapman married to Amy Grant? It's good to see a flashback about Shania.

I gave up on that rag a long time ago. You can get what you want on Shania right here from it thanks to folks like you so why bother wasting money on it.

It is still for sale.

This (http://www.countryweekly.com/images/cw/208981/51073.jpg) issue with the Shania article and photo will be off of all newsstands soon.

A new issue is already out in stores where I live.

The new issue features Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban on the cover [again!] with, I think, an orange/yellow background. The headline is about how Nicole is standing by Keith.

Every time I say I'm going to cancel my subscription to the rag, "CW" throws in a Shania article/photo that makes me glad (for that 1 week) that I have the subscription.

Truthfully, I haven't been truly happy with a "Country Weekly" issue in a long time.

The worst part is that it's been over 4 Years since Shania was on the Cover of "Country Weekly"! :( :scowl:

The last time Shania was on the cover was a couple of weeks before "Up!" (http://www.amazon.com/Up-Shania-Twain/dp/B00006IX86/ref=pd_sim_m_3/002-0414131-9809615) came out in November of 2002.

I don't think that's quite right. She was on their special Decade edition a couple years back, but I think that was the last time.

Yes great stuff, thanks for sharing!

I agree, I hardly ever look into Country Weekly anymore. It's becoming a tabloid like rag mag and Shania gets shafted from being on the cover and having decent articles anymore. I do have that 10 year special edition with her of a very select group to get one of those special covers. That at least was nice. Good article too from that one.

Oops! I forgot about the Decade issue.

I do have that one too. I think it's dated March 2004.

I still think that's pretty bad. 2 covers in over 4 Years?

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw recently got a decent sized photo on the right side Cover of a "CW" issue with a Flashback story on the 2000 CMAs. That Flashback story didn't contain any new facts or quotes and was about the same size of Shania's Flashback story (http://www.shaniasplace.com/GreatestHits_Gallery/Articles/2006_Small_Articles_Scans/jpgs/061120_CW01.jpg) in this issue. Yet Shania doesn't get the same cover treatment. :uhh:

Shania didn't get on the cover for her "Up!" sales, "Up!" tour, Billboard Awards, Bambi Award (Germany), BMI songwriting awards (U.S. and Europe), getting her Third Diamond award, her and Mutt's anniversary....etc...

If they can constantly throw together old quotes and articles to put Faith/Tim, Kenny, George Strait, and others on the cover for haircuts, Flashback articles, and wedding anniversaries, surely they could have thrown something together with all of the NEW things Shania has done over the past 4 years and given Shania a few Cover stories.

Just My Opinion.

Oh well. At least "Country Weekly" threw in the Shania Flashback article this week. I guess you take any little positive thing you can get from "CW" when you're a Shania fan.

I know Shania did alot of huge things, sales, awards ect with UP and when a huge successful artist like Shania releases a GHs CD there is no mention of that either. It was the second highest first week seller for GHs all time, only the Beatles did better and if so still CW hasn't put Shania on the cover. It's always Alan, Tim, Faith, George, Kenny and company.
