I had no idea how to title that, since the release dates are different for every country. You can go here to get all the release dates for different countries and more information about the movie! (http://www.mi6.co.uk/sections/bond21/release_dates.php3)
I can't wait to see this!!! I've seen the trailer for it and it looks amazing! I was sad before to see Pierce Brosnan go (he still is the best Bond, and I still do wish he was Bond), but I think Daniel Craig will do a great job as the new Bond. I'm so excited :D. I pre-ordered the soundtrack :funny: (I LOVE listening to the newer Bond soundtracks that are composed by David Arnold). Can't wait...I'm a huge Bond fan :D :D :great::up::up::up:
I've also been reading the official blog (http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/casinoroyale/blog/) for the film :D
You can see it on DVD already...

Things are looking decidedly bleak for British Intelligence, in both senses of the term. SMERSH has begun to sabotage global stability, no less than 11 agents have been lost, and to make matters worse, our greatest secret agent 007 is languishing in stately retirement.
M - together with the heads of the CIA and KGB - have only one hope: to bring Sir James Bond (David Niven) out of retirement and into the field. Finding himself pitched against an opposition of fiendish intensity - an array of female secret agents armed with explosive grouse; a baccarat-playing illusionist (Orson Welles) and a neurotic megalomaniac (Woody Allen) - Bond launches his brilliant plan... "from now on, all agents will be known as James Bond, including the girls".
:p
I'll definately be seeing it, I think the new Bond will be good. People should at least give him a chance.

Haha :funny: .... I have yet to see that one (there was a tv series too I believe, or something like that), but I will sometime....but now to the cooler one :p....
It looks so awesome. I wish MoneyPenny was in it though; it seems wierd not to have her in there!

I was hoping to see it on Friday, but I don't think I can.....maybe Saturday.
Looking at the pics of the World Premiere in London, it makes me even more excited. The Queen attended, and I guess they had three huge screens showing the movie outside, and it was huge :D

I'm talking to some of my friends to see if we can see it tonight...don't know yet though, since I am working part of the night. We will see!

I just came back from seeing it!:
It...is...AWESOME!!! I believe this may possibly be my favorite Bond movie EVER (and I've seen them all) :great: ..... it takes a while to get used to it being the beginning of a new Bond, the story and the actor, and set in modern times, but the scenery and acting is just awesome. I did miss Money Penny and Q (and of course Pierce, but Daniel Craig does an incredible job).
It's a must-see....it's almost 2.5 hrs long! :D
Thanks for the review CF.

No problem Troll :D .
Oh...btw, could a moderator edit the title to just say:
NEW James Bond 007 movie: "Casino Royale"...
Thanks! I think the "USA" part might make international people be turned off the thread :p

I am sad that Pierce won't be Bond anymore, but how can I compare and say he's the best if I won't see this one? :p
I still don't know what happened, Pierce seems to be saying he is sad he wasn't allowed to continue, yet I remember him reported to be refusing to sign a contract which kind of means its his decision not to stay.
I think Daniel will be good. All the Bonds have been very different, I think it keeps it fresh. It reflects the time each movie was made, Sean showed the debonaire Bond, Roger Moore showed the fun/spacey 1970's and 80's feel. Timothy Dalton showed a more emotional Bond and Pierce back to a harder edged Bond. (My opinion!). I'm not keen on George Lazenby but the film has good moments, although not a very Bond-like ending.
I think the next Bond should be me. And I get to chose the Bond girl.

The producers (Barbara Broccoli & Michael G. Wilson) knew that they had to do something to make the 007 series stay fresh and they saw with the last one (Die Another Day) that they went too far with some things, too far from reality and they needed to be more serious (ex: invisible Aston Martin Vanquish :p ). So, if they were going to start from the beginning of 007's career, they had to have a new Bond, and they knew that they wanted Craig ahead of time. Brosnan seems to have moved on and has been supportive of Craig, so all is well. (you can read more about the decision here (http://www.mi6.co.uk/news/index.php?itemid=4418)).
:funny: ...let me be the villain!

Mads Mikkelsen did an incredible job as Le Chiffre! I love how the Bond series uses actors/actresses from different countries/cultures, because it gives everyone to see their work and talent, when normally they would not.
I love this movie! Can't wait to see it again next week with my sister (she loves 007 movies too :D .
Thanks to whoever edited it :DIt's a mystery, send Bond to investigate :p

Well, yes lol....but they're trying to make him more realistic now, so people can relate to him and see that he gets hurt too :dunno: (physically and mentally).
So far, from what I've read on the 007 fan message boards, a whole lot of fans love it a lot, when it was mixed with the last movie. There's so many good reviews for this movie :D

I saw it last Thursday and it's great!
It really is what the Bond series needs right now.
When I saw the last one, Die Another Day, I thought it was getting too farfetched, like with the baddie being a Chinese cocation, or in The World is Not Enough, like Renard having a bullet in his brain etc. But this one is really earthy and much more realistic. Daniel Craig is great and brings more to the character than the others did, compartively speaking. Bond doesn't make quips in this one and he's much more tough. Kinda like Steve McQueen.
Right from the opening to the end it was great, with a little less action than usual. What I mean by that is, there was more suspence and the suspence and action was more ballanced, like in the Connery films. And someone didn't get blown away with a machine gun as often either!
The fact that is has a Fleming idea and a good title (instead of something like Die Another Day!) makes it seem like vintage 007, which is emphasised with the Poker game.
The Bond girl is my favourite. She's more of a complex character than those that have gone before. I also think it's great that Moneypenny isn't in it. She was a good character, but has served her purpose in the previous twenty films and the Bond/Moneypenny undercurrent was kind of wound up at the end of the last one.
And no Q, either! I think that is also good. Maybe it was getting too predicatable before and I got the feeling they were running out of ideas for gadgets.
The song, "You Known My Name" is also great!
Anyway, an excellent film - even at two hours and twenty minutes. Only second to Goldeneye which has to be the best ever! But it was doing something different than Goldeneye, whereas that relaunched Bond into the machine gun firing figure he was in the Brosnan films (played to perfection by Brosnan, of course), this one is taking the character back to basics and showing us that the man is, after all, an assassin.
This is a new beginning for Bond. The other era is over.
I'm seeing it tonight. I hope Q and Moneypenny being absent is just for this one, I love them! It's part of the James Bond world that has entertained families for years, Q is a major part and not at all done with! I just think this film didn't have the characters written in originally.
I thought the last Bond movie was poor by Bond standards. And the absolute worst theme.
I can't wait to see it looks brilliant and worth the money!
Saw it, thumbs up for him as Bond.
The reason why there is no "Q": This is the first in the story, Q didn't enter until the movie after Dr No.
Great locations, good story, well written. Not tacky like the previous film.
It seems a really great movie. Thanks for sharing the preview of the movie.
One sad part (for the males) there was no "girls" in the opening credits. Boo to political correctness. :(
Who cares that, if in the whole movie the girls are on:D
It's tradition! I'd rather see it than not. Next thing they'll be banning guns!
But... chicks using guns.. wow that's great, isn't that?:D And that's coming common now:D

fanmaster, you must be "DAYVID" :p
Oh, right, Paul, I didn't think about that with Q! I'm fine with the girls not being in the sequence; I didn't even notice (they weren't in Dr. No's, either, right? :p). I love "You Know My Name" now...I bought it off iTunes :D

You're right cftennisnative3, I am DAYVID. Apparently, there was already a David here, so I changed it.
I'm glad the girls weren't in the opening credits too. That's old hat now. This is all new Bond and looks much more fresh. And this is the first time since The Living Daylights that they've had a male vocalist singing the song!

I forget to say this, but the reason Pierce Brosnan isn't Bond anymore is because he got fired when the producers and MGM wanted to do Casino Royale. Brosnan is sad that he isn't this one in particular because he has always been fasinated by the book since it holds the blue print for the character of 007, but he says that he can't "walk around with that in my heart".
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've read quite a few good reviews of it. I'll be going to see it at some point and I will try to keep an open mind about it, thinking it's going to be a different Bond movie.

Yay :great: .... I always knew you were the best Finn :p:up:
I saw the movie couple of days ago. I have sort of mixed feelings, probably due to having rather big expectations. It was entertaining though, I didn't look at the time at any point of the long film :p
The retro feel was certainly there, even though it was strange thinking this would be the start of the Bond character in these modern times.
But I was expecting it to be more realistic like everyone said, it wasn't quite so in all aspects :p Nor should it be, Bond films are supposed to be fantasy. But for some reason since everyone said it's more realistic, I was thinking it might actually be really realistic :funny:
I didn't have difficulties in adapting to new actor, surprisingly.
Did they actually play parts of the Bond theme anytime during the movie? At the end when it started playing I realized I had missed it during the film.

Well, it's not totally realistic lol....but more realistic than Die Another Day and some other Bond movies :p. There are definitely scenes in CR that are not real and cannot be done in real life (the running chase scene in Africa, the Aston Martin spinning part, and maybe the Miami Airport and last scene in Venice :p ), but gadget-wise (for the most part) and everywhere else, it seemed more real, and Daniel Craig pulled off a Bond who can bleed and get hurt like anyone else. That's really what I meant :).
You're right. The director, and the music producer (David Arnold) wanted to wait until the end of the film to play the very famous John Barry "James Bond Theme" b/c since the movie starts from the beginning, it's not until really the end until he really truly starts to become the 007 we all know. And it's a good segue to the next film (which WILL be a 'sequel' to this one, and carry on with the storyline with the mystery of Vesper Lynd and terrorism).
I'm so excited for the next one!!! :D
The DVD:

A "full screen" 4:3 aspect ratio DVD will also be released on the same day for the same price.
The Blu-Ray high definition edition has also been announced for 13th March 2007 in the USA with a suggested retail price of $38.96. Sony have confirmed a UMD (PSP) edition for simultaneous release for $28.95.

There is a rumor that the next 007 film will be called "Risico", but it's probably nonsense and nothing to cling on to.
I hope, in the next one, they put the first time Bond and Moneypenny meet, and add Q as well. It's so cool, because the possibilities are almost endless with what they can do. Maybe the beginning form of SPECTRE may come back? (or show itself for the first time, I guess lol).

I don't think they should show Bond meeting Moneypenny. Those days are gone now and there relatioship was chronicled in twenty films. Anyway, you can probably imagine how their meeting will be. They'll shake hands and say hello and that will be that. I think their certain chemistry comes from the fact that Moneypenny knows him too well and is aware of his womaning reputation. And John Cleese is still on MGM's books as Q so he might come back too, though he won't be the same Quartermaster as Desmond Llewellyn played, obviously, and people fans will then set this sequel after Die Another Day and chronolgy will fly out of the window! :)
But this is the new series, as it were.
Now Bond will fight baddies for another twenty films. And he'll live to die another day ...
Well, it's not totally realistic lol....but more realistic than Die Another Day and some other Bond movies :p. Yes, some people went overboard with the "realistic" term :p (including me a couple of times lol) :p
I hope in the next movie they'll have parts of the Bond theme in the movie too.
The next movie will continue with this same plot line?
I think they definitely will - it's the trademark of 007: they must!
Yep. That's a new thing too: they have not done that in the past with the previous 20 films, except maybe alude to something in the past, but not in a sequel-type-of-way. The next movie should answer questions left by this one. I read that the next one will be an original script (so not using Ian Fleming's novels, which I think they ran out of to use for films - this one too so long to be made b/c of copyright issues).

Interesting.
What do you mean with "this one too so long to be made b/c of copyright issues" ?
From what I've read from interviews, I believe what was said was that the rights to Casino Royale were owned by someone else, and there was some battling to obtain them, and that's why the first 007 movie was Dr. No, and not CR. I think they said they got the rights a few years ago, and we're waiting to use it eventually, or something like that, so now was the perfect time for that :D .

"The DVD release date for "Casino Royale" was originally set as Tuesday 27th March 2007 in the UK, but this has since been brought forward a day to Monday 26th March 2007 according to recent listings.
Pre-Order Casino Royale DVD (Amazon UK) (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FIGHNQ/mi6thehomeofj-21)
Distributed on the Columbia Tristar label in Region 2, early announcements tout the release as a two-disc DVD, as with the recent James Bond Ultimate Edition DVDs. It is expected to retail at £22.99.
MI6 revealed back in October 2006 that Casino Royale will be released in high-definition on the new Blu-Ray format, also on 26th March 2007 in the UK, retailing at £24.99. There are also plans for a simultaneous launch on Sony's UMD (PSP). Sources say it will not will appear on the rival HD-DVD format. "

Well, you might find this interesting to:
"Craig is signed to do two additional Bond movies, in which he’ll learn more about the shadowy terrorist network he tangles with in Casino. Even Eva Green, who plays Bond love interest Vesper Lynd, found the plot confusing. “Barbara Broccoli helped me understand,” she says of the sequel, which will involve an old beau of Vesper’s who is mentioned in passing in Casino. “The plan is, the Algerian boyfriend is going to be the baddie in the second Bond, and we’ll understand [better].”

A bit confusing though that a character that was killed in the first movie would be confused about what's going to happen in future films. Unless they are planning some flashbacks where she will be (even more confusing :p).

I can't wait to see the extras too :D . I saw it twice in theaters as well, and would have seen it a third time, but my plans didn't work out as I thought it would.

007 association gives MI6 recruitment headache
LONDON (Reuters) - The success of the James Bond movies has given the British Secret Intelligence Service a recruitment headache -- too many cranks want to join MI6.
I think it gives people a false impression of what working for the organization is actually like," the head of MI6 recruitment -- named only as "Mark" -- told BBC Radio One's Newsbeat program on Monday.
"So it does tend to turn up quite a lot of thrill seekers and fantasists and we're really not interested in them."
As well as dismissing the notion that spying was a never-ending life of fast cars, fast women and shaken not stirred Martini cocktails, "Mark" was keen to demolish another myth surrounding MI6.
"We don't have a license to kill -- we don't carry Berettas -- that's simply not true."
