Taking advantage of the weather today before the cold front pushes in, I went for a 54 mile cruise through country and town on my bike...well, more like tearing around like a banshee.
Anyway, I was making my way north into town through the main drag, and I was on the right side of the right lane of the 4 lane street. There were people out and about a bit, putting up lights or kids playing ball in the yards, and etc. Well, there was a truck up the street that was turning right on to a side street (he was in my lane going the same direction), and I saw a few kids standing around on the sidewalk near the street he was turning with their backs turned to the street a bit.
"...who needs brakes?" I thought.
I downshifted twice in quick succession that sent a humming roar right before I passed the kids, about 3-4 feet away, and one literally screamed outloud. I'm not sure if it was a girl, but it was a girlish scream. Unseen behind my gold shield, I grinned and took off and continued on my way into town.
Also, I must have noticed about at least 10 people stare at me...not sure if it the gold shield on black helmet, the camo pants, gloves with metal on the knuckles, the bike, or all of the above...hmm.
