MIAMI -- A British Airways jet carrying British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his family overshot a runway at Miami International Airport on Tuesday, but the plane was not damaged and no injuries were reported, officials said.
Officials say the British Airways flight ran over a couple of airfield lights after landing Tuesday evening. But, they said, the plane didn't leave the pavement and returned to the gate on its own power. The plane had 343 passengers.
It's not immediately clear what caused the plane to skid.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Secret Service had no additional information about Blair's trip.
A Downing Street official said the prime minister and his family were not hurt in the mishap. He wouldn't say where the Blair family was headed, but they have taken vacations to Bermuda before.
An airport spokesman said there was some resurfacing work and relighting, so the lighting was poor.
