Shania Twain Come On Over (http://www.amazon.com/Come-Over-Shania-Twain/dp/B000001EW3/ref=pd_sim_m_1/102-8095895-8121751) Still SoundScan's Biggest Selling Album
by Paul Cashmere - January 5, 2007
Shania Twain has maintained her status for having the number one selling album of the SoundScan era (1991-2006) for 'Come On Over'.
It wasn't a huge sales year for the album. It sold just 53,000 units according to Nielsen SoundScan. However, Metallica is closing the gap, with the black album registering sales of around 340,000 units in 2006.
The only change in the Top 10 is the departure of Britney Spears and the addition of The Beatles. Britney dropped from No. 10 last year for 'Baby One More Time' and The Beatles '1' came in at No.9 pushing Celine Dion's 'Falling Into You' into 10th spot.
Here are the Top 10 albums of the SoundScan era:
1. Come on Over (http://www.amazon.com/Come-Over-Shania-Twain/dp/B000001EW3/ref=pd_sim_m_1/102-8095895-8121751) / Shania Twain 15,408,533
2. Metallica / Metallica 14,819,905
3. Jagged Little Pill / Alanis Morissette 14,513,313
4. Millennium / Backstreet Boys 12,091,491
5. Bodyguard / Soundtrack 11,789,552
6. Supernatural / Santana 11,588,453
7. Human Clay / Creed 11,483,557
8. No Strings Attached / N Sync 11,099,051

Shania's "Greatest Hits" (http://www.amazon.com/Shania-Twain-Greatest-Hits/dp/B0002Z1EG2/ref=pd_sim_m_5/102-8095895-8121751) cd, as well as being out of the spotlight and off of the radio/charts, has hurt the sales of "Come On Over" (http://www.amazon.com/Come-Over-Shania-Twain/dp/B000001EW3/ref=pd_sim_m_1/102-8095895-8121751).
Metallica was one of many rock acts receiving a lot of exposure recently from VH1. (VH1 had something like a "VH1 Rocks!" marathon with rock specials and videos.)
If the same pattern of sales continues for Shania's "COO" cd and Metallica's cd, "Come On Over" will be out of the # 1 spot in as little as 2 -to- 3 years from now. :(
Hopefully, Shania will back soon with a new cd (and tour) and give "COO" a boost. :D

:great: - thanks for posting :D:D
It's god to hear Shania is still on first position. But while Shania is away the stage, she would get behind, I can say many people, no fans, are forgetting about her, when she reached a cool fame with all the people around the world. Now I ask to the people if they know Shania Twain, and they always say: who is?.. I hope she does something NEW now this YEAR. I woudln't like she leaves the ranking due to that reason...:(

Look at those others on that list and be PROUD she is the number one after all these years. I thought myself to be a pessimist but I'm nothing compared to you guys. Heh.

"Come On Over" Named Best Selling Album Of SoundScan Era
January 5, 2007 5:44 a.m. EST
Maira Oliveira - All Headline News Reporter
Los Angeles, CA (AHN) - From pop to rock to country, the SoundScan era had it all.
Shania Twain has proven to be have the best selling album of the SoundScan era (1991 - 2006). The country - slightly pop - star recently earned the top spot with her highly successful album "Come On Over," which has sold more than 15 million copies in total.
However, it only sold 53,000 copies in 2006 whereas Metallica's self-titled album sold 340,000.
Not making it to last year's list was pop princess Britney Spears. Her debut album "Baby One More Time" was cut from the No. 10 spot and completely eliminated from the list. Landing in the 10th spot instead is Celine Dion's "Falling Into You," while former rock band Creed stands at No. 7 with "Human Clay."
The only soundtrack to make it on the list for 2006 was "Bodyguard," which included a remake of Dolly Parton's hit song "I Will Always Love You," sung by Whitney Houston on the album.

This is great news even though we know nothing is forever and COO probably will get caught soon, still it should make a true Shania fan proud.

Come On Over was such a phenomenon. It went on and on. I was doing karaoke at that time, and girl singers were doing Shania's songs constantly.
I ever wonder when the heck the diskos will stop playing loud every night:
....Oh.. Oh... Oh.... Man! I Feel Like A Woman!... :funny:
I have the first 2 albums on that impressive list. :D
Sorry I did write something wrong:D Next
