I was approached by one of their photographers when I was 20. I was too shy to be a SUNshine Girl. lol!!! My cousin has posed many times, as well as an old friend of mine. I'll see if I can find them in the archives.

I realize the SUN isn't the best paper Toronto has, but it has some fun things in it.

I thought it would be a hoot to post these pics, to help promote Toronto, in some way. Everyone who knows me knows I love my city! I didn't think there would be an issue posting these pics as they are published in a local paper, and there are some threads that are similar.

If there is a big stink about it or peple are offended, I will ask the Mods to delete. Unless they decide to do it on their own. I don't want any controversy over this silly thread.

Maybe.. here it's a newspaper called Sun of well here.. And it's a very bad newspaper I say it because they always put pictures you know whick kind of, and news too extreme to be watched by kids, pictures of dead people and stuff like that.. goosh is too ugly I've never bought that newspaper in my life and I won't. I expected some disscussion about this thread. What I never expected was to hear complaints from fellow Torontonians! I'm shocked that you don't support our SUNshine girls!

I don't know about the two of you, but I was born and raised in this wonderful city. The SUNshine girls have been a part of my whole life, everyman I know, every shop or garage, has many of these pics. Don't you have any pride? Who runs the booths at the CNE? SUNshine girls! Who are smart and intelligent women? SUNshine girls! They aren't some fluzies, they are students and mothers and interesting, talented women from across our beautiful country. Family members and friends have been SUNshine girls and I'm damn proud of them! You insult my intelligence!

I'm just as upset about the way women are portrayed these days, but if you think these tastefully done pics of everyday women are offensive, then lets get rid of all Shania pics, she poses in a bra. Would you call her cheap or distasteful?

As a Torontonian I am proud of our city but not of The Toronto Sun and it's Sunshine girls, they are an embarrassment, why is that necessary in a newspaper?? As a journalism major I'm well aware that the Toronto Sun is considered a joke/tabloid newspaper. Well i'm not born in Toronto, but i lived there long enough to know all about the Toronto Sun....isn't that the paper they have to GIVE away for free at Honest ED'S (RIP), pizzapizza, gas stations and tons of other places?? Real quality. So i don't need to be condescended to just becuase I wasn't born under the maple leaf.

Anyway, I don't care about the Toronto Sun... people can choose whether to read it or not... but the shaniaforums is for ALL Shania fans -and i'm bloody disgusted and feel sick that when a forum member -(a respected forum member -of almost 4 years) raises a genuine concern that she is offended by a non-Shania thread because of its sexual content, and it is replied to with contempt and a "i don't care what you think" attitude. The thing which gets to me is that there have been so many other posts and threads deleted here before that were, quite frankly, way more relevant to Shania Twain than girls with their flesh exposed.

Don't get me wrong, of course an "Open Forum" is called that for a reason -its a place for fun and other non-Shania stuff. But when someone raises a polite objection to a thread's content, you all could at least have the decency to treat that person with respect and a degree of sincerity..... say what you like about my post, i don't give a toss -but don't insult my friends.

It was not my intention to insult anyone. I apologise for that, to both of you. I wanted to show you the message behind the pictures. I was genuinely shocked that you were that offended. I've seen worse on the Girls Allowed thread. Is it acceptable there because it's a musical group even though, IMO, some of their pics are alot steamier and insulting to average women? The SUNshine girls are average women, they sure aren't super models. I know the newspaper isn't the best we have, I thought I clarified that. It has been a debate here for years. I just wanted to post something from our city, to showcase something I think is positive. What's wrong with that? I understand what you're saying and I agree, to some extent. If anyone doesn't want to look at these pics, so be it. I don't look at the other ones that post pics of girls. I honestly do not find these pics degrading to women. I wouldn't post them if I did, believe me.

I will continue to post this thread unless the mods decide it shouldn't be here. But I would expect them to do the same for other similar threads as well. It's only fair IMO.

Harmless pictures of women posing in bikinis, you see that down at the beach every summer. A great chance for those women who do pose to maybe be spotted by the likes of a model agency etc. Not that they are looking to be spotted:) I don't care if the paper is considered trashy, it ain't cause over here we sell really dirty and trashy papers:p
