Country star Shania back on home turf to promote new scent

It was a case of combining business with pleasure this week for Ontario-born country star Shania Twain, as she made a trip back to her homeland. The much-loved musical export returned to Canada to promote her new fragrance, and also managed to squeeze in a spot of retail therapy in Toronto's posh Yorkville shopping district.

The five-time Grammy winner's new perfume, 'Shania Starlight' is her second collaboration with beauty house Coty. And finding inspiration for her new project was, she admits, a little more challenging this time around.

"For my first fragrance I had already chosen so many of my favourite things that I didn't know what to choose for my second," explains the singer, who lives in Montreux, Switzerland, with her husband and producer Mutt Lange and their seven-year-old son, Eja.

The final result she says, is "sexier and more sensual" than her first venture and more of a "night-time fragrance". [Hello Magazine]

Ok guys, we (the mod squad) have discussed this. Originally we decided not to allow these to be shown, as technically they are paparazzi photos, i.e. someone has followed Shania around, invaded her privacy and not with her permission.

However, on this occasion as Shania has acknowledged them and is currently there for promotion, we have decided as she seems happy, we will allow these to be shown. However we must make it clear that normal paparazzi style pics are not allowed where she is UNAWARE they are being taken.

It's difficult knowing where to draw the line. If Shania is aware of photos being taken and is happy, we think it is ok. On the occasions where Shania is unaware, unhappy at being persued and in Eilleen mode we will not allow these to be shown. If in doubt, ask a mod first, normal paparazzi type photos will still NOT be allowed.

Also, very strictly NO FAMILY pics to be posted, whether from this outing or any other. Please respect Shania's wishes for family privacy.

Actually, smiling when being encountered with paparazzi is the best defense - often, they are after an opposite reaction... some even try to provoke such... you've seen what they are capable of... NOT all - just the worst ones.

The mod who removed your thread was correct to do so. It clearly says in the rules of this forum not to post paparazzi pics. However, we discussed this and decided that these pics are ok to post as long as there are no family with Shania on them.

As the mods have said that a paparazzi pics are OK if they are not trying to disturb and intrude on her family, I myself avoid putting paparazzi pics of Shania on this forum just to play it safe and respect Shania.

A fan site should always consider what kind of message is being given out into the public, when allowing pictures coming through a photo agency, that has an open bounty set on celebrities - inviting anyone to stalk with a camera to make a fast buck.

This has been discussed time and time again - so, what's the problem..? :dunno:

What good are paparazzi pictures if her fans here or at any other Shania fan site can't see them. Why go else where? And if they are not posted here then we will all miss out on ever knowing they even exist. It sure looks like she wants to be in the lime light. She is preparing to get her self noticed once again hopefully. Is this fan site so high and mighty that we can't even see our Shania with a big smile on her face? Eilleen is being Shania for the week and we should all be thankful that she is making us enjoy her for now. Way to go Shania for putting yourself out there. :p

We always try to make the best decision in terms of what Shania would most likely want. We can't do an investigation into what happened everytime she is pictured! For example, how are we sure they are paparazzi pics? Maybe a reporter happened to run into Shania downtown and she's happy to pose for him, she certainly looks happy to me. How can we possibly know the circumstances behind these or any pics? All we can say is that in this case she was happy to pose. Had she NOT done, if they were all pics taken through a shop window with no posing I wouldn't have allowed them to be shown.

How are mods chosen? We are conditioned over a period of many years and have to pass the most unbeleievable tests of physical, emotional and mental strength. :p
