I am not starting rumors or anything.I just want to pass on some info. gear****z.com is where alot of producers and engineers hang out and give their opinion on different techniques.Even Mike Shipley, Mutt' right hand man who worked on COO and UP posts there sometimes.
Anyway, someone posted there and said they heard an unedited version of a Shania song for her next album. He was blown away at how great it sounded.He said it sounded like a duet with another female singer and that the version is not the final version of the song he heard.
He works in the business obviously and is very credible and has been posting on gear****z.com for a while.
This could be one of many songs Mutt and Shania have already recorded that are not final versions.
I don't want to get anyones hopes up, I am just passing on info from a credible guy in the business who has heard a not complete version of a Shania track for her next album that he said sounded great and can't believe how Mutt and Shania do it everytime.

It could be the Anne Murray duet he is talking about, he said he has never heard of Anne Murray.So maybe the track he listened to was the Shania and Anne Duet. Eitherway, he says it sounds amazing.

Wouldn't that be something, probably probably even better when its completed, or who knows maybe it'll be like one of the unfinished symphony's.

Yeah, I am positive it is the Anne and Shania duet. I found it funny that he never heard of Anne Murray and didn't know who the other woman was in teh song. Eitherway, it should be a great duet and it should be the lead off single because Shania is as big as it gets in music and would draw huge attention to Annes duet album.
I wonder which one of Anne's classics she sings.
Shania must of just recorded it while she was in Toronto last week and their and the producers and engineers are working on the final version.

Yes, the duet is on Anne's album out in November.
He just heard a new Shania track with another female voice and he never heard of Anne Murray.
The song he heard which he said was amazing was obviously the Shania and Anne duet that Shania recently recorded.

It could also mean that there's a surprise deut with Anne or maybe somebody else, cause if the Album is out in November wouldn't it be done already?

No, it doesn't mean it would be done already. Tracks can be edited very close to the release date of the album.There is no doubt that Shania just record the song for Anne's duet album and now they are working on the final version or cut. The version this engineer heard was not the complete version.

You are overthinking this. Nowadays they can do things up to the last minute. And heck, Anne's duet album isn't even released till November.
They have lots of time. I know that Shania and Mutt were still working on her UP cd into August and September of 2002 and that was a whole cd.
We are talking one song here that was recorded a little late.

Well, the first question that occurs to me is which of Anne's songs were they singing. But I guess if this guy had never heard of someone who has been an international singing star for 39 years, we can't expect him to know her songs.
My personal favourite of the Anne Murray songs is You Needed Me. It will be interesting to hear how two ladies with alto voices do a duet.
Waaa. Cool. I would've wanted to have more details spread about that song, title and stuff like that. LOL.. Nah, I rather wait till the moment to get to hear it and hear all the songs. That's good, and as I see it's almost a matter of fact she's going to include a duet in her new cd, something she didn't do on her early official albums. :]
