Shania gathered energy for her shopping trip to Toronto's Bloor Street, with a visit to 'Fresh, by Juice For Life' at their Bloor and Spadina location.
She had the Banana Nut Pancakes and their Ginger Tea.

Shopping till she was dropping in Toronto last week was Shania Twain.
Missing, we think, only Winners while on a Bloor West hee-haw that took more than a day. Stopping, we know, at Fresh in The Annex to gather her retail strength.
Helping herself to the banana nut pancakes -- can you sing Whose Bed Have your Banana Nut Pancakes Been Under? -- Twain also had the ginger tea. More intriguing still? The woman who is the most exquisite combo of New Country and nouveau riche, and is, moreover, a vegetarian, asked to speak to the owner of the place. Alas, the owner was nowhere to be found.

Just as some women love their chocolate, Shania indulges in nuts. Her husband is more the chocolate eater and is known to be rather fond of Turtles (caramel and peanut variety).

As much as I like Shania I don't have her taste in food, I don't mind Pancakes, but I like them with different jams, as for ginger tea, not for me thanks, I will just stick with normal or green tea, I have tried all these weird teas, yuck.

I practice good health eating myself. I like most of the things I read about what Shania's eating. I also like to juice and make smoothies from vegetables and fruit much like her. I'm not sure what kind of eatery this is, perhaps it has a health minded menu, but if that's not the main focus then pancakes are not the best healthy choice although going for the banana nut variety is better than others. If I was to make a selection I too would go with the banana nut. Good taste Shania and I love ginger tea. I have it often here at home. Very healthy and it sure beats regular tea or that drug of a beverage, coffee.

Of course coffee rools for the 75% of the population who drinks it over tea and are not worried about their health and won't admit coffee is addictive as any drug. :p

It's true it can be addictive, but in morderation studies have shown that coffee can actually be good for you, obviously not if you have high blood pressure or something, but it does have certain health benefits. I love coffee. :funny: I wouldn't be able to get through the day without it...especially because I have to stay up really late most nights doing homework.

I think the reason why I hate bananas so much is because my Grandma used to force us to eat them and say it in Italian. :funny: But yeah, I really hate bananas and LOVE pancakes.

The "experts" are going back and forth whether coffee has health benefits or not. In my experience it is all phony baloney. No good for high blood pressure and those who do not have high blood pressure have a good chance of developing it with coffee. It's also hard on the digestive track with all that burning acid. From a health point of view, you can't go wrong with herbal teas. Shania's love for white tea and various herbal teas such as ginger which is so delicious is 'the way to wanna be.' :p
Just thinking back, I met up with my sister here about a month ago and we had banana nut pancakes. :) Not the worst lunch choice, but surely not the best from a health stance. :D

haha yeah that's because I only get like 5-6 hours of sleep a night and I wouldn't be able to function properly without it. I normally don't drink it on the weekends when I can actually sleep in.

For the record I only get about 6 hours of sleep and wake up perky without coffee. :D
I will not lie, I do drink coffee on occasion for the taste, but I much rather drink from my huge selection of herbal teas. Most taste great and these teas are really what gets the body and mind functioning for the day and for your futures sake. Healthy standpoint once again. :p

I went to Fresh by Juice for Life to have the so-called 'Shania Special' - I call it that, they don't.
I had the Banana Nut Pancakes and the Ginger Tea. It is actually called 'Sweet Ginger Tea' It is great - but not cheap $4 for a tea!
It was served in a glass. It is superior organic green tea (Choice) brand and they put in 2 slices of ginger and sweeten it with maple syrup. Nice presentation. It went down smooth!
The banana nut pancakes were delicious, but next time I would have them without the nuts. Just my preference. I can see why a vegetarian like Shania would get nuts though - more protein.
I 'borrowed' (ha!) took! the brunch menu and I'll post of photo of it later!

I'll be heading down there next weekend anyway, the service was pretty crappy so they gave me a coupon for a free smoothie...they make the best fruit smoothies there.

I don't like tomatoes either. If I'm at an Italian restaurant, I try to order pasta in a cream sauce or a pesto pasta. I actually make a great spaghetti Bolognese (meat sauce) and I do put tomato paste and crushed tomatoes in it, but you can hardly taste it because I add lots of garlic, meat, spices and plenty of red wine.

Here is a scan I took of the Brunch menu from Fresh by Juice for Life.....maybe this was even the same one Shania held in her hands. Well, even if it wasn't, she touched one and looked at one just like it. I also added the cardboard wraparound thing they placed on the tall glass of Sweet Ginger Tea that Shania ordered. The glass gets hot, so you need the heat protector of the cardboard. I hope you can see this well.

I've always wondered what Tomato's tasted like way back when, I hear they are not the same because of soil degradation. I hear Tomato's were alot more spicey back in the day.

I've been there twice now, and ordered the Banana Nut Pancakes, and they look very different.
