The title is pretty self-explanatory, just pick your favorite and least favorite lines, and then tell us the reason you love 'em or don't!

Favorite: "I'd rather die standing than live on my knees" and "Find your self esteem and be forever free to dream

Reason: I've always been the kind of person to keep working for something when I really, really, want it. The lines I just chose have always been encouragement and inspiration whenever I needed it. There are many other lines that could be considered "favorites" of mine, but this is the one that seems to come to mind most often when I think of my favorite line in a Shania song, and when I thought of making a thread like this.
*edit*
The reason still fits, even though I've thought of lines I like better now! :D

Least Favorite: "For the love of him, make him your reason for living."

Reason: It's pretty obvious for anyone who knows me! :p But just in case you don't know me very well, this whole "Make a man your reason for living" thing doesn't thrill me.

The first thing that came to mind is "And there ain't no way I'm letting you go now and there ain't no way, and there ain't no how, never see that day..."

But I really like "it was never gonna work - you were too much of a jerk. I'm finally fed up with this!" :D

My least favorite is "I wanna get to know you that good". If you know me, it's obvious why.

For those of you who don't, that line is not grammatically correct! It should be "I wanna get to know you that well!"

Here's a few I like....

"If elephants could fly I'd be a little more optimistic"

"John's back with the Beatles and they're goin' out on tour"

"My dreams came true because of you"

"not even Dr. Ruth is gonna tell me how I feel"

"Somehow you got me to believe"

"You gave me faith to find my dreams"

"I love you just the way you are"

Favorite: "I'm gonna hold on, 'cause what I believe in is so strong. No matter how long, no one can tell me I'm wrong - I Ain't Goin' Down!"

Yeah, I like that too....it's a gooder one. Right Jenna? ;)

My favorite, well, not really favorite, but this line is one of Shania's best lines ever.

It only hurts when I'm breating, my heart only breaks when it's beating, my dreams only die when I'm dreaming, so I'll hold my breath, to forget.

This line is just... Don't know the word for it, but it's so true :) .

I don't really have a least favorite line... But I think some lines are quite silly... Like "Even my skin is acting weird, I wish that I could grow a beard"... Little weird, but it fits in the song so perfectly that it just can't be a bad line....

I love Shania's music mostly because of her lyrics, so I love them all!

Favourite line

"...can only go up from here"

Reason: There have been so many days where I've been insanely stressed and I've just needed to sit down and tell myself that things are going to better and that it can only go up! :)

Lines I also love:

"You're a fine piece of real estate and I'm gonna get me some land"
This always makes me laugh, it's sounds like such a cheesy pick-up line. :p

"I'm keeping you forever and for always"
I always loved this line, so cute.

"With all this stress I'm must confess - this could be worse than PMS" :funny:
haha I love all the lines from this song

"Okay so you're Brad Pitt....that don't impress me much"
Of course only Shania could pull off a line like that. ;)

"I'm gonna love you and you're gonna fall in love with me"

Least favourite:

Least Favorite: "For the love of him, make him your reason for living."

Reason: It's pretty obvious for anyone who knows me! :p But just in case you don't know me very well, this whole "Make a man your reason for living" thing doesn't thrill me.

Oh there are so many, and each one good for a special day or thing that's happening in my life. Right now I'd say this one is my fav: "with all this stress I must confess, this could be worse than PMS" :p

I think I would have to agree with Eilleen333.
I couldn't possibly choose a favorite and least favorite, I love them all too.

Find your self esteem and be forever free to dream

Jenna you would:love: my Aunt

Everyone has given some great ones, but to me this is probably the most important line she has written to date. It is saying "I'm worth it, I'm done taking crap, and I'm going to do live life the way I want.":)

I don't look at For The Love Of Him that way. This is not her song. It was a big hit from the 70's or 80's? That was the thinking then. My least favorite line is probably "I Can't Believe You Kiss Your Car Goodnight".:D I do like TDIMM and when she sings "You Make Me Take Off My Shoes Before You Let Me Get In", it reminds me of when I was a young guy, my cousin would make our grandmother take her shoes off before she could get in his Corvette.:D

Wow, really? I knew Shania didn't write it, I didn't know it was a hit back then. In fact, I didn't know that anyone sang it before Shania.
It still doesn't seem like the way Shania would think, be it in the 70's and 80's, today, or even had she been alive when that was popular thinking, in eras such as the 1900s when women were expected to "stay in their place" and be submissive housewives. It just seems so "un-Shania-like" to me. The only thing that makes me not think of this song that way as much is the line that says "His world won't fall apart if you take him into your heart," which sounds to me like his love and respect for her is equal to hers for him. Either way, that one line has never been a favorite of mine.
Even so, I like lyrics like "I live only for your happiness" from From This Moment On (especially when it's done as a duet), "You're all I need to survive" from Holdin' On to Love (To Save My Life). For some reason though, that one line from For the Love of Him has always bothered me.

The girl only had this one hit to my knowledge and it was a big hit. I found this for you here:

FOR THE LOVE OF HIM (Martin / Jerome)
Bobbi Martin - 1970
Shania Twain - 1990
When he opens the door says I'm home
Be aware of the look in his eyes
They tell you the mood he's in
What kind of day it's been
For the love of him
Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can

There'll be little things he forgets to do
Have you told him today I love you
When he reaches out be there
Show him that someone cares,
For the love of him Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can

For the times when he won't say a word
And you wonder if there's something you said
The gentle touch of your hand
Tell him you understand
For the love of him
Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can

He's a man and a man have to try
Let him run, let him fall, let him cry
His world won't fall apart
If you take him into your arms
For the love of him
Make it your reason for living
Give all the love you can give him
All the love you can

You can hear Bobbi Martin sing it in this YouTube video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZLZH6hWPyc

Funny, even though Shania never had a hit of this song, and in all honesty, if she hadn't been shafted by her so called friends of her early career, we would never have known about this song from her, her version is found more than this lady who had the hit. I also remember a popular singer from about 30 years ago named Vicki Carr who had this song out and did well with it after Martin I believe.

Favorite:
I'm not always strong - and sometimes I'm even wrong.
But I win when I choose - and I hate to loose.

Least favorite:
Even my skin is acting weird - I wish I could grow a beard. ?????? Never.
