Rocks

[SevenUp!]

Rocks are not always hard and cold
Break down and heat up, when they get old.
Rocks can be big, and rocks can be small
Whatever the size, they cause and break falls.

Some rocks get kicked all over the ground
Others so special, held onto when found.
Some rocks are new and some rocks are old
Some we let go of, while others we hold.

Rocks can hurt, rocks can heal
Have alot to do with how we feel.
Rocks take us up, and rocks bring us down
Helping us keep our feet on the ground.

Rocks are to lean on when things look bleak
Rocks are so special, each one unique.
Although at times it's hard to see where
Can count on them to always be there.

A Geology poem! I might try to get my class to do this next time we do rocks and soils in Geography, they would love it. As teachers we are encouraged to make lessons cross-curricular, so Geography done through English is a good way to do that, and it can be hard to come up with lessons which do.
