Wow! I just saw Shania's Ka-ching video (Live) on Youtube. She was on a show called Hit Machine ( I think) in France sing that song. Wow! What a power full proformance of that song! It wasn't only her making the song good but the audience helped to. WOW!!:bounce:

Also, I saw the Ka-Ching video on YouTube and I liked it.:D

I think it was a mistake not to release Ka-Ching as a single in North America. It is a catchy tune at the very least. Shania is usually criticized (by non-fans of course ) of being superficial, vacuous, even childish in her lyrics. Yet here is a hard hitting song that is a devastating denunciation of commercialism. So what do they do here? They are uncomfortable because it has too much punch and might offend someone and they decide not to release it as a single. Shania can't win!

I think that song would have been a big hit in Canada. We tend to favour more subversive topics here. I imagine a lot of talking heads at the CBC would be quoting from Ka-Ching if it had been released as a single here. But the big boys at the record company say we aren't numerous enough to warrant separate treatment from the USA.

Quite possible. Ka-Ching! was a hit in Central Europe, and I believe Robin Eggar mentioned in his Shania Bio, of the few concerns the label had expressed in North America over both the song's subject matter - and Shania's more cosmopolitan image in general.

Then of course, with some songs by certain artists - they might be so special in their meaning to them, that even the artists themselves refuse to launch those as separate singles... even IF the fans believe they would cause a storm in the charts.

...and even despite that, Ka-Ching!'s lyrics have been quoted by Canadian economists/politicians on several occasions... I think I've posted a few in the "Shania name-droppings" -thread...

I also think it should have been released as a single.

Everyone seems to really like it, especially now. It's my Mom's favourite Shania song ever.

Quite appropriate for this time of year, Ka-Ching was intended to be a Christmas single about how commercial global society has become. Shania has experienced what it's like to be poor and now she can afford to buy anything she wants but as she puts it, there's pressure on both sides.
