Hey everyone, it's me Jenn! :D

I have missed you all!! I'm sorry I haven't been on here that much, but I've been dealing with a lot of stuff lately...some good, some bad (mostly bad), but yeah, I've been busy lol.

As a lot of you know, I'm into graphic design and photography and both of those things have been going quite well for me lately :D I've had a lot of people come to me wanting graphics, logos, brochures, t-shirts and photo shoots done! It's been crazy at times, but it's been helping slightly with keeping my mind off the bad crap that I've been dealing with lol.

One of the recent crappy situations that I've been dealing with made me remember how awesome this place is so I had to come and say hello.

I have a question regarding this "crappy situation" though. It's more annoying than anything really, but I need some help...

Is it not theft when you do some work for someone and they promise something in return, but then do not send you what was promised for the work done? Is that not called theft? If not, what is it called?

On another forum site (not Shania related), there was a contest held to design something. There were 11 winners and I was one of them and 2 of my designs were picked. We were promised autograph photos of the particular person the forum site is about. I wasn't doing the contest for the prize, I was doing it for the experience and as something to add to my portfolio.
It's been almost 5 months since the contest ended and I still haven't received my autograph. This is kinda like an ebay situation I guess because I don't know this girl at all, but I trusted her to send out what was promised for my hard work. Thankfully Im not out any money, but that's not the point. This girl said she sent the autographs out, but at least 5 other members haven't received their autographs either, so it leads me to believe they were never sent in the first place. Is this called theft? :uhh:

I could really use your imput on this guys because the situation on the forum site has got out of hand. This girl (shes the administrator of the forums too) is calling me "f***ing psycho" and one of the other administrators who is good friends with her is telling me I should stop complaining and find a REAL problem like "sleeping with a hooker and getting AIDS". Some of the members have teamed up with them and Im basically being bullied on this site just for asking for my autograph to be sent. Apparently another autograph is on the way, but why should I believe her? Until it's in my hands, this issue has not been resolved, but everyone else thinks its resolved so I should shut up.
It's waaaay worse that what I've simply explained here. Their behaviour is just appalling and I cannot wait till this is over because Im not returning to that site again!

Seeing their horrible behaviour made me realize how awesome this place is though, and I know no one here would ever speak to another member like the way those people spoke to me! Im so thankful for this place and I hope I can come back more often :)

If its a case of someone asked you to do something, you did and they promised some kind of payment in return (the autographs), if they didn't "pay" you then its illegal I think, dont hold me to that but its no different to any other thing where you are asked to do something, they entice you with a prize and then dont give you it.

The forum doesnt sound very nice or professional, I wish I could help in some way, I guess keep nagging. Maybe you can go "over their heads" in some way and take the matter further. I dont know enough about the situation, if it is involving an artist and an official site/competition I think you could take it further. If its not official, I'm not sure. If they took something off you without the thing they promised in return yes to me at least it is theft. Its like asking someone to come and paint your house and not paying them. If the autographs existed in the first place and were genuine they should have been sent out recorded, and also the fact the others didnt get them either suggests something fishy.

Good luck with it anyway, but dont let it take over your life, one situation like this isnt worth letting it ruin things, but its annoying obviously. :(

That "situation" of yours...not sure I'd call it theft or what, but it certainly isn't right. Legally speaking, I don't know if a "verbal" agreement is binding or not, whether it's done over the internet or in person. Maybe I'm naive but I take people's word, when they say something, I believe it. But that's probably not going to hold much water in the eyes of the law.

Too bad they are treating you so poorly over at that place, you don't deserve that. We won't do that to you here, so I hope you can come back more often too. You are missed. :hugs: Hopefully you receive that autograph that is supposed to be coming, and then you can put the whole thing behind you and spend more time here, where people are a whole lot better than that.

Hey Paul!! :) Thanks for your input on this situation. Im trying to not let this situation get to me too badly, but I'm also not just going to let this girl get away with not sending me my autograph. The site was created by this girl, but it's quite popular and well known - even the artist themselves know about the site. But I did go over her head and lodge a formal complaint about the site to the people who are affiliated with her, who are affiliated with the artist. Im not sure if they can do anything, but the point is Im trying.

Yeah the fact other winners didnt get their autographs either was a red flag to me so that's why I had to say something to other members of the forum, but that resulted in being ganged up on, bashing, name calling and all sorts of other horrible things!

Im glad this forum is well run and there are such nice people here! :)

Awww, thanks so much!!! :D I missed you too!! :) I know this place isn't like the other forum site and that's what makes this place so awesome! :]

Sounds complicated that's for sure, and I'd be very surprised if that girl actually sent the autograph as originally promised. Pleasantly surprised though. Hopefully that's exactly what happens.

P.S. - Tonight, when I'm watching the Toronto/Ottawa game, I'll be cheering for the Leafs... not just because you're awesome and the Leafs are nice people, but because I don't like the Senators lol.

MusicToday is the company that operates Shania's "Official Fan Club" and they are famous for not treating the members the best they could, to say the least. :smirk:

Jen, I wouldn't worry about what people online say to you. As long as it's not threatening, well...it's just the internet! It is easy to get caught up in things like that but in the end, you don't know them in person, probably never will, so they're not worth your tears. ;)
