Lately, there has been much language used on the forums. And im not talking about small words, im talking about the bad ones, now they haven't been used out right, but itll be like "This is just so ****** up", and things like that, you get the pictures. Modorators, I would like to ask you, what is your stand point on this. Do you think that cussing is just a way of expressing yourselves and that's allright. I mean, take a look about the topic "I just heard" (i think) , this person does the same thing mentioned above, plus this person uses slang and vulgar phrases. Now, some of us, post and tell them to stop. And that works some of times but not others. Now, if the majority of the modorators like it the way it is, and understand this is going on, than that's allright, I can live with it. But, I just really want to know your viewpoint on the subject. Some people have been banned because of their language, and the material they talk about, like Derik Donnely, and many many others. But, when is enough?

We have a list of words we have set up which will be marked out(******) automatically once someone posts them. Using vulgar language is against our rules, that's why we automatically mark the letters out. We don't restrict anyone from joining because of their age so we want the Forums to be a friendly, explitive-free place since we do have young members.

I'll review that topic you mentioned and see what needs to be done.

If you see a message with a marked out word(s) do you think we should remove the marked out content? Right now we feel that the marked out words are fine since the marked out word could mean anything.

Well, I think its really sad that you have to put in measures like that. But, what has to be done, well i guess has to be done. However, the astrisks are fine for the time being, because they do protect out your viewers as well as all others. But i think the use of such words should be entirely eliminated eventually. With the computer keeping a list of words that had to be marked out in a data bank under members names. And when a members cusses to much, they're history. This would probably be way to difficult, but its just a thought.

Yeah, that would be nice however this message board program doesn't support any features that advanced. Besides we have the moderators that can sort out some of the problems and might be able to make better decisions on who should be booted and who shouldn't.

Most of the time we can catch such foul language in time but if we ever overlook it please write to one of us. Now that I am back from New York for about 10 months or so I will be here to fix any problems so just write me an e-mail and I will fix it. i check my e-mail like 4 times a day here at college. http://www.shaniaforums.com/smile.gif
