Problem with cookies

At the moment, i have the main area of the Shania forums as my home page. But whenever i log on to the internet it doesn't retain the topics i've previously viewed, as viewed. Also, i always have to re-enter my username and password to post, even though i set the preferences to retain it.

BTW i'm using Netscape, but also have the same problems with IE 5.

Any suggestions ?

This happened to me a few times in the past. The first thing I would do is check in your browsers security settings that it will actually accept cookies.

The other thing which may have caused your cookie to not be recognised is because with the forums getting their own domain, the cookie it sets has a different name so you may have to re-save your user profile and forum preferences for the cookie to be created in the new name.

The only other thing I can think of is for you to go into "C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files" and delete your existing cookie file for the forums. Then the next time you access them you will be able to set a new one. The only problem is the system will then lose track of which messages you have read and which ones you havent.

If that still doesnt work then you should probably email Matt and see if he has any more ideas on how to fix it.

Go to system files and look up your old internet. It will have a little tab for delete every .... so and so days. Maybe it is set for every one day so it it is deleting your history and temporary files every day. Just move it to like 30 days or so and you should be set. Hope that works.

I have mine set to 7 days incidentally..
