How come you have to reenter http://www.shaniaforums.com/love.gif if you edit a messege with it in?

I have no idea Ben. I've noticed that problem too! If you don't re-enter the code for smilie faces, after you edit your post they display as html code.

I'll ask Matt about that.

I haven't noticed the problem because I usually don't use those types of smilies(not that I don't like them or anything). After you submit the form containing your post, there is a special procedure in the software that plays a little with the text(converts smilies texts into links, censors certain words in the text, etc.). What you see posted on the forum page it is the result of those conversions. Now if you want to edit your message, you will edit that result with the links and not the smilies text. So when you click submit after the editing, the software runs the same procedure of conversion, but the procedure doesn't find smilies text there, it finds links to the images and treats them as such. I think when you install the forums software there is an option about enabling links to images or not. For us the setting is disabled, if I recall correctly (imagine if everyone would post links to images and the images would automatically load on that guy's post... this would be a HUGE page). So when the software sees a link like that it simply writes it down, doesn't act upon it. This might be the source of the problem. I’m not sure about the second part.
