Shania Twain
Wednesday November 7, 2001
Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, the Dixie Chicks are just some of country's hottest crooners that have been busy rehearsing for tonight’s Country Music Awards, but one queen of the country club will be notably absent. Sexy Shania Twain, who hasn't made a public appearance in more than a year, is skipping the CMA’s. Her absence is leading fans to ask, where in the world is Shania?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Los Angeles DJ Shawn Parr says the country queen is trading music for motherhood. Last seen at the Country Music Association Awards in August 2000, Shania's been laying low with producer husband John Mutt Lang in their castle in Switzerland, quietly raising their four-month-old son, Asia.
Parr affirms, “They like to stay out of the limelight, they wanted to do this very quiet.”
But the reclusive rocker continues to rule the radio waves. Though her album, "Come On Over" was released four years ago, 12 top ten hits, gradually released, have kept her songs on the air and the charts. It’s a strategy that's also worked for country's top selling act - Garth Brooks. Shawn says, “Here's a guy who hasn't had a new album out for over four years and the world, in any music genre, is embracing him."
Will the world continue to embrace Shania if she stays MIA? Parr says, “She's working on an album scheduled to be out in the spring.
Then we'll find out if this five-time Grammy winner is "still the one."
