View Full Version : I THOUGHT the new layout was supposed to make the forums FASTER

Since we got the new layout on the forums, everything has been a lot s-l-o-w-e-r... Is it because of all the pics we're able to post, and the font colours and all that? It's nice to have SOME cool features, but I don't want it slowing the forums down. I'm now finding myself replying to less topics because it takes soooo long for the page to load. It's not in all the Forums though. Just in the full ones, like Open, Music and ST Forum. But it's sooo annoying to have to wait so long. Just a thought.

It's the server from which the forums are operating. I've got a cable connection and the forums have been slow for me too.
The good news is that Doug from Roughstock just informed me last night that he plans to upgrade the servers sometime next week. Here's what he had to say about the performance of the forums when the upgrades are in place: "forums and other database-driven apps will run lightning quick!"
Both our Forums and the Planet Garth Forums run from the same server so the high traffic really slows things down. Next week that should be fixed.
Ive got a cable conection too...and it goes slower than before, but still very fast!!!

ACTUALLY, MINE IS SOO MUCH FASTER!!:D:D Am i the only 1?? Oh no, Ely too!:p But our computers r sooo strange... that's why they r soo dofferent from the others...:p:p

Well seems to me like its a personal problem.
The forums load much faster than UBB for me, and im on Dial-Up access. Try clearing your browser caches. That may work.
It's hard to set a pattern here. I'm also on dial-up, 3 hours ago they were stuck and now they're flying. So it's hard to say at this point. Let's wait for the server upgrade next week and we'll see then.

The forums have been MUCH faster for me since the new system came online and I only use a 56k modem.. I`m looking forward to the server upgrades now.. :)
The Forums are running a lot faster now aren't they?
