Interesting. I did some background work with the historian at Deerhurst a couple years ago or so.

I don't remember there being a gym on site with basketball court floor markings like that.

There have been large rooms used for banquets, shows, ballrooms, etc. They even had an indoor sports area for awhile. Tom Waller and I saw people playing tennis or racket ball, something like that I think. We were just walking past on our way from the sports shop, to the pub/grill near the southwest end of the Pavillion. Not sure if that area is still there. Let me go see. Not sure if I can still access their virtual tour. The plug-ins for that change every 6 months. And I've only done 2 or 3 upgrades in the last 2-3 yrs.

Oh my!! They've revamped their whole site since I last looked at it a few months ago.

Don't see the virtual tour with photos and 360 degree look arounds at the moment. But they do still have indoor fitness areas.

I discussed some of this in the Questions about Deerhurst thread a while back. The huge new show room that got built to showcase Shania in the new Pavillion around 1989/90, with John Kim Bell, got re-engineered after the show failed in 6 mos or so. The stage that used to roll out over the swimming pool is no longer there. The main show room areas got divided up I believe, tho I never got into that aspect in detail. Most of my research related to Shania in the Lodge. That's where she spent most of her performing years at Deerhurst. And its the place that still puts on live musical shows. The newer, larger Pavillion is mostly used for conventions, formal events, spas and lodging now. Nobody lodges at the original Lodge any more. They just use the former guest rooms upstairs for storage. The show in the ballroom & stage downstairs, needs a lot of storage, I'm guessing. They have limited space on the 1st floor. And they've been running not just one but two shows this past year.

The Shania Twain Centre used the Peninsula Room in the Pavillion for a luncheon one year, when I was there (2005). I think they used Shania's wedding reception room upstairs the next year, when I was not there (2006).

Back to the picture. I see Slaney is no longer on this forum. So no direct way to follow up on the related video that was mentioned.

It does sound likely that there were rehearsals at Deerhurst, and that Shania was in them or even leading them, consistent with this picture. But where at Deerhurst, exactly, I don't know. Things have changed quite a lot, around there in the last decade and a half. Heck, I can't even keep up with all the changes in their website, let alone their personnel or facilities.

Oops! I stand corrected. There IS still a virtual tour option for Deerhurst. Link was just in a different location.

If you go to the Pavillion and look at their floor plan, you can see where the Peninsula Room is, and the indoor tennis courts, squash courts, etc.
