Drama and Action/Adventure
2 hrs. 40 min. BLACK HAWK DOWN is director Ridley Scott's (GLADIATOR) adaptation of the true war story as told in Mark Bowden's novel of the same title. The film takes place in 1993 when the U.S. sent special forces into Somalia to destabilize the government and bring food and humanitarian aid to the starving population. Using Black Hawk helicopters to lower the soldiers onto the ground, an unexpected attack by Somalian forces brings two of the helicopters down immediately. From there, the U.S. soldiers must struggle to regain their balance while enduring heavy gunfire.

 i don't know why i was sure that had to be a war movie

... and if you watch the History Channel you should hear that Osama bin Laden was also involved in that attack against the US military ... and the first WTC attack ... and the Cole ... you already know he was behind September 11 ...

And ... that is one of the reasons the movie is coming out now.

I saw "Black Hawk Down" last weekend, so I thought I'd give ya'll my opinion. :p

It IS a war movie, no doubt about that! :uhh:

To sum the entire movie up, it's a very educational movie. It's good to show the world what really happened over there.

It's guns, guns, blood, guts, guns, guns, and more guns. If that's youre kind of movie, you'll LOVE it!
Personally, I got so tired of the guns, I was immune to it all by the end of the movie, I was ready for them to get on with the plot.
On the other hand, it gives a good glimpse of the reality that occured over there and what our brave troops went through.
The troops made me proud!

Basically, if you like war movies, you'll LOVE this movie. If war movies aren't your thing, you probably won't like it.

Persaonlly I don't like That kind of movie, too much Blood for m taste.

And yes They where brave men! :) At least its not like that U Boat film that insults the memory of the people who caputred the Eigma Machince! (That film came really close to being banned in the UK you know?)

Yeah thats a good description.....I saw the movie.....

I did like it. It was a sincere attempt to show what happened in Mogadishu in 1993.

I just kept getting mad at the fact that politicians and military leaders don't seem to learn from past mistakes and our boys pay for it...... Out gunned and out numbered what was supposed to be a 1 hr assault and capture turned into a 14 hr fiasco. They did a hell of a job!

If we're gonna get involved in other countries civil wars we'd better make sure we've assessed the situation and when a General asks for something to give him help Washington should listen good and hard!:furious:
