Big interview with Celine at Billboard Online
From what's printed, it looks like all the cuts on Celine's new cd are recently recorded. She did them from August, 2001 on. And they say that all the producers flew to Montreal to record them. Now I'm wondering how Mutt made it to Montreal with all the things that were going on with him and Shania in August.
The baby was born on August 12th and the 28th is Shania's birthday. Seems strange that he would take off during that period to go produce a song for Celine. And after the September 11th tragedy, it even seems strange that he would want to fly to Montreal. Wonder if he really went or if he did all the preliminary work and orchestration in Switzerland and then sent the finished product to Celine for her vocal part. That seems to make more sense. Maybe it will come out in a later interview if she's questioned about the production.

If you read the article it says:

Otherwise, Dion says that making "A New Day Has Come" was a joy. Angelil, Dion, and the Sony family began fielding songs at the beginning of 2001, and on Aug. 28, she started recording vocal tracks for nearly two-dozen songs at Montreal's Piccolo Studios.

Doesn't mean Mutt went to Montreal on Aug. 28. She only started recording vocal tracks at Montreal Piccolo Studios on Aug. 28th. So we still don't know where and when the Mutt track was recorded... Montreal, Florida.... in August, September, Oct., Nov., Dec 2001...?:uhh:

Hello there folks. I would like to provide some enlightment to your big questions. I have a Celine Dion CD entitled "Celine, All The Way...A Decade of Songs, Celine's Greatest Hits" and I bought this CD even before Shania announced that she was pregnant. The song, "If Walls Could Talk," an old production of Mutt Lange, is included in this CD. When I read the leaflet cover that is included in the CD, under the credits of "If Walls Could Talk" it said that it was a 1995 production. I believe that what had happened is this song was just included again by Celine Dion in this new CD that they are promoting.

Most of the famous singers, whether Country Singers or Pop Singers (like Brian Adams), do a reproduction of their most popular songs and consolidate them into a new CD, along with 3 or 4 new songs and the rest are old songs and then market the CD as a new production. I believe this is one way of getting a new CD in the market with just a few new songs. (Just my humble opinion.)

I don't believe that Mutt Lange flew to Canada to produce this song, because it was already produced--it was a done deal with Celine singing it. I believe that Celine Dion must have liked this song and decided to include "If Walls Could Talk" in her latest CD, even thought it was already included in her older CD, "All The Way...A Decade of Songs." So, we can all rest assured that our Gentleman and Ideal Husband, Mutt Lange, did not abandon his lovely wife, Shania, last August.

I hope that I am able to make you guys and dolls breathe easier.

I would also like to add that in this Celine Dion/Mutt Lange production, "If Walls Could Talk," Shania and Mutt provided the background voices. On the song credits, it said that Shania provided the service, courtesy of Mercury Records.

No, the Mutt song on the new album is called "Goodbye's The Hardest Word." It's a song about a mother's death. Celine passed on it 3 years ago, but, now that she's a mother herself, she decided to sing it on the new album. There are some threads about it on the Mutt Lange Forum.

Actually, If Walls Could Talk was from Stevie Vann's 1995 album. Muscially, the two versions are completely different. The Celine version has a "computer programmed" sound to it, while the Stevie version sounds more natural with saxophone and lots of guitar overdubs like those on the International version of From This Moment On and Said I Loved You But I Lied.
