Well. Here we are. Gettin' close to the NASCAR 2002 takeoff.

Feb. 10 *Budweiser Shooout

Feb. 14 *Gatorade Twin 125s

And then for the real starter:

Feb. 17 the DAYTONA 500

The same race that took Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s life just one year ago. I, as all of NASCAR will miss him. But, as Dale would want it, he would want us to push on and race.
We will, we all will.

It's gonna be very emotional when the Daytona comes back, remembering Dale in all. I bet it's going to be very emotional coming back.
But with the bad comes good.
And Dale would want us to bang fenders and race.

Rock on #3 Dale #3

----------------------
Now, to get on with it...

I hear Jimmy spencer and the whole K-Mart team got the boot because K-Mart is going bankrupt so they have to drop their NASCAR team. Oh well, they sucked anyway :p

Points contenders

Can Jeff(Gordon) pull it off again? I hope so. It would be very hard, but, maybe, just maybe...

Tony Stewart
Now this hardened rookie might have shot at the NWC, unfortunately. Evevn though I hate his guts sometimes for what he does to Jeff.

Ah well, I don't have much to write about. I got bored and thought about NASCAR...

Only 3 days 'til the Bud Shootout! :D

The Ford boys might have a bit of an advantage this year, I was listenin' to MRN radio lastnight and heard that they shaved the Fords a little bit, so they could run with the Pontiacs, Dodges and Chevys better.

Ah well, Monte Carlo's can still kick some @ss :D

Daisy
02-13-2002, 8:37pm
Nah, ford ain't got a chance running against Chevys, Pont, and Dodge, why do you think NASCAR has given then more advantages?? A chevy with the #24 on the side is gonna win Sunday! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Marine

I hated to see Jeff come in 9th after running so well but I'm just glad Tony Stewart is alright they released him today as for Jeff's off-track problems with Brooke I hope they can work them out.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Jeff Gordon's wife has filed for divorce after seven years of marriage to the four-time Winston Cup champion, The Palm Beach Post reported Saturday.
Brooke Gordon said the marriage is "irretrievably broken" in court papers filed Friday, the newspaper said. It did not specify the problems.
She and her husband are considered the highest-profile couple in NASCAR , appearing together in commercials and magazine articles.

Jeff Gordon, in Darlington, S.C., for the Carolina Dodge Dealers 400, would not elaborate on the report Saturday.

"I hope you guys can respect me at this time," he said. "We're going to say something next week about it."

Telephone messages by The Associated Press to Gordon's lawyer, Georgia Newman, were not immediately returned Saturday. No one answered at the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts office.

Brooke Gordon is seeking exclusive use of the couple's oceanfront home, valued at $9 million, as well as alimony, two cars and periodic use of their boats and an airplane, the newspaper said.

Gordon's 32-year-old wife also wants her husband to continue to pay the salaries of their housekeepers, maintenance workers and chef.

Jennifer Brooke Sealey was a Miss Winston when she met Gordon in victory lane after a race at Daytona International Speedway. They married Nov. 26, 1994, and have no children.

Jeff Gordon is in his 10th full season in Winston Cup. The 30-year-old driver has won four championships, 58 races and more than $45 million in prize money.

I feel sooo sorry for Jeff!!!...I am glad she is going to be out of his life though!!, She is nothing but a gold digger and a premaddona...I have met her several times at the races with my dad and she has always come across as a snooty little Bioch. Jeff can do better! I just hope this wont affect his on track performance!

Well, Jeff Gordon crashed early on, so that kinda sucked. Buuut, thats Bristol for ya.

I tell you what, there was some tempers on the track, man :funny: All sorts of bumpin' 'n grindin', but again, thats Bristol.

:scowl: Well I was at the race tonight. I went with my dad, my boyfriend Dan, and my dad's girlfriend. We were FORCED to leave at 930. lol Dad wanted to leave early so we wouldn't get stuck in traffic.

ANYWAY - The race was AWESOME until the last 50 laps of the race - BUT - Jimmie did it to himself. :scowl: For those who don't know, I am an AVID Jimmie Johnson fan (see picture below). Had he not over-run his pit mark, I'm sure he would've won that race. The bad thing about it was he did the same thing TWICE! GRRR!! Jimmie lead for what, 225-230 laps? That's AWESOME! He is absolutely AMAZING for a rookie driver.

I'm glad Mark Martin won since he hadn't won in like 2 years and he'd NEVER won the Coca-Cola 600. As much as I would've liked to see Jimmie win, I'm glad Mark got to win one! :) So, congrats to #6, Mark Martin. :D

'Twas an awsome race. Jeff Gordon finished 4th, and made it upto 4th in the points, better than what he's been doing.

The beginning was friggen awsome, I actually didn't see it, I was outside and looked at my watch and realized it was time for it to start, and I turned on my truck radio in the middle of taps, then George Jones sang the National Anthem, then the spokes-woman cor Coca-Cola said how we were all part of the Coca-Cola family and how racing was family, etc...

Then the best part, when Darrell Waltrip AKA Jaws got on and said how racing was about memories, and about fun, and family too, and how we honor the Earnhardts and the Pettys esp. tonight, and he had all of the fans count down with him to the "Gentlemen, start your engines!" part. Now that, was just awsome.

"NASCAR is family"

Yeah, pretty amazing for a rookie to get this far ahead in points; plus having 2 races under his belt on his first NWC year, in only 16 races.

At least it takes some kind of athletic ability. I'd like to see Mark Martin's old self get out there and run up and down the court for 48 minutes. Those Nascar guys just have to sit in a car and steer. :p

They're fighting a 3500lb stock car (even with PS it's hard), usually around 85 degrees out, 110 in the car, going for 4, 5, sometimes 600 laps. It may not be an Olympic sport, but hey. NASCAR has alot of fans.

Yeah, it takes some endurance and skill to drive the cars for all those laps but I still wouldn't call them athletes. And you're right, NASCAR does have a big fanbase and it's probably one of fastest (if not the fastest) growing sports in the US (as far as gaining new fans).

I've never thought of them as 'athletes', just motorsports drivers...

Racing/motorsports is kind of in a class of it's own :D
