This happened a couple months ago actually, but I had never got a chance to share it on here.

I live in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, very near to Madison. This is a VERY liberal area..the people are very liberal. Politically. So, this wasn't a big of a suprise to me as it may be to you, but its nonetheless very stupid.

In Madison schools, for a while after Sept. 11th when we were asked to say the Pledge of Alligance (sp?) every day in school, Madison wouldn't do it. The school board members said that it was wrong to say the Pledge in public schools simply because of the words "under God" used in the pledge.

IS THAT FRICKIN STUPID OR WHAT?!

I can't get over it! I think they changed it now since so many people were objecting to it. Is this happening to other places in the USA? How dare anybody ban the pledge-esp. after Sept. 11th. PLEASE tell me you guys agree!

I heard about this in my classes at school.

Yes, that's the reason why they took out the pledge several years ago, because some parents were complaining about the word "God" in the pledge.

There is always the issue of "speration of church & state". Plus we have freedom of religion in this country, so stating "God" in a pledge at school can be viewed as infringing on those rights.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. But, their will always be people out there who don't want their children to be taught about God in school. . . .or even say his name.

ShaniaLookAlike: You have a firm grasp on the issues.

musicgirl: You are right to feel that way. So when you can, VOTE THE IDIOTS OUT!

Dave- HAHAHA!!! ;) :) You got it!

I know about all the seperation of state and church stuff, but still..its a word..and the pledge, and our country, was founded on it.

I guess it's just a sign of the times.
