The latest on Country Music's video clown, in Brad Schmitt's column in the Nashville Tennessean:
Come hear the softer side of Cledus T. Judd
Country parody machine Cledus T. Judd, host of the upcoming Brooks & Dunn Mobile Yee-Haw Festival, put a serious song on his upcoming album, a duet with Vince Gill.
The song, Leave You Laughing, written by Cledus and Paul Overstreet, is a serious look at leaving a legacy of laughter. (That right there is some fine alliteration, n'est-ce pas?)
It may be that Cledus is settling down because he has met the love of his life, and he's fixin' to get married. (That right there is a fine use of ''fixin,''' n'est-ce pas?) Cledus actually met Danielle Roberson, 26, a nurse from his home state of Georgia, a couple of years ago.
Things were going great with Danielle before his first B&D tour, but Cledus dumped her before he went on the road because, well, he was going on the road, and he wanted to hang out with the ladies.
Repulsive, right? What a pig! Dumps his girlfriend to fool around on the road! Well, sir, let me tell you one thing.... YOU ARE MY HERO! OK, I'm kidding. But at least he did dump Danielle beforehand.
Apparently, Cledus realized this was wrong, and he begged Danielle to come back into his life. She agreed, and Monday night, he swore to be a good boy on the road for this tour.
''Yeah, right,'' scoffed Ronnie Dunn. ''He'll probably dump her again tonight."
