I still think Jewel is soft but pointed ... compared to Aerosmith for example. But she is not mushy soft, just comfortable soft.

I guess I'm thinking of the words and video images of ...

Break Me

I will meet you in some place
Where the light lends itself to soft repose
I will let you undress me
But I warn you, I have thorns like any rose
And you could hurt me with your bare hands
You could hurt me using the sharp end of what you say
But I am lost to you now
There's no amount of reason to save me
CHORUS
So break me
Take me
Just let me fill your arms again
Break me
I'll let you make me
Just let me feel your love again

Feels like being underwater
Now that I've let go and lost control
Water kisses fill my mouth
Water fills my soul

CHORUS

Kiss me once
Well, maybe twice
Oh, it never felt so nice

CHORUS

~Carol~ None taken - to each his own - Sheryl Crow also yodels a bit and very well (in Timeless - the tribute to Hank Williams - singing "Long Gone Lonesome Blues" ) - my love for yodeling began as a little kid listening to Roy Rogers singing on television - Bob

~Carol~ If I knew I would tell you! I was assuming you would know!

I had planned to look into this and will do so and let you know if I find out something definitive.

Did you see the Yahoo Steals Yodel thread? It seems they allegedly stole Wylie's yodel and have misused it thousands of times without his permission.:)

It is widely believed that the ancient, and highly vocal art of yodelling

originated in Switzerland. However, evidence suggests that this may not be the case. For example, it is thought that in the Scottish Highlands, as far back as 1400, cattle thieves used a form of yodelling to communicate with each other in code.

Further back still, the Chinese are thought to have used yodelling (in Chinese of course) as early as 100AD.

Some experts believe that yodelling was copied by humans from birds in

tropical rain forests.

Whatever you believe, yodelling is generally considered to be a typical Alpine mating call between farmers and potential women. It has nothing to do with cattle calling.

John Smith, from England, however puts a very strong case forward for his great-grandfather being the inventor of yodelling. He claims that his great-grandfather yodelled day and night in the front room of their humble terraced house in Colchester, Essex, in a vain bid to get the young women who lived in his street to mate with him. Evidence found in Colchester library seemingly supports this theory with documents telling off mass hysteria in and around the street where Smith's great-grandfather lived. Apparently, every evening a posse of young women would congregate outside his house, allegedly drawn there by a strange 'warbling' noise. After about an hour, the women would be invited into the house and often didn't leave until the next morning.

When seen in public, Smith was said to always look "completely knackered, as if he'd been at it all night."

Incidentally, in Britain, yodelling is referred to more commonly - and more correctly - as 'throat-warbling'.

Ummm :uhh: Yeah. . . yodelling gets me hot and heavy too! :funny: J/K

It's intertaining to watch people yodel, but if my great-grandfather yodelled all day long, I'd go mentally insane! :funny:

No seriously, I do think it requires a lot of talent and practice. I love to watch Jewel yodel. . . .but I can only take so much before I start climbing the walls. :p
