A new idea!

I have an idea for a new story! Hope you like it. :) If not, then forget the whole idea. Ok, it’s about when Shania first comes back to the spotlight. I thought it would be fun to write, and fun to read again when she does come back again :)

I’ll start.

Shania dismounted Dancer, and gave the reins to a stable girl. She walked over to Mutt, he was walking towards her, smiling. Mutt had come with her to support her on her very first concert after her long brake from the spotlight. “Oh Love, I’m nervous! What if they liked the previous tour much better?” she said when she had stopped in front of him. Mutt smiled a little, and said ”of course they’ll love the show! Woody, they bought millions upon millions of your new album! They love the songs, they love you!” He gave her a big grin. “I suppose you’re right”. She smiled at him. “I don’t know what I would do without you!” “Well, you better go and change”, he said, “you have to be ready to rock this country again” he grinned. “Yep!” Shania smiled. She felt much better now that Mutt had calmed her down. It was an hour till “show-time” when Shania were almost finished changing clothes. She stood in front of the mirror, singing one of the songs she was going to perform very soon. She smiled, and went to find Mutt again.

Mutt crossed the room to be with Shania. Then the two of them left the room together.

"Should we take the elevator?" Shania asked.

"No, not this time," Mutt replied. "How about the stairs? It's better for our health, right?"

"Right, Love", Shania said.

And they started down the ten flights of stairs. It was fun for both of them. Shania was walking first, spiralling around the turns and then plodding down each step one at a time. Mutt followed. They had done this many times before.

As they got to the bottom, Shania was an entire flight of stairs ahead of her husband, so she opened the door to the lobby and said "After you my prince."

Mutt got near the bottom of the stairs and saw Shania standing there holding the door for him and heard what she had said. So he decided to play along and do a little skip and a step down the last step.

Unfortunately, he stumbled and when he tried to catch his balance he mistakenly put his full weight on his right foot when it was sideways. He felt something go "pop" in his foot, and when he tried to step with it, a pain shot through his foot. He spit out "Goddammit", and hobbled again, "Goddammit" again, and yet a third time before he came to a halt leaning up against the wall.

"Oh, Mutt" Shania shouted "what is it? Are you hurt?"

"Ah, sorry about the language, Love" Mutt apologized. "I think I might have broken something. Damn, it hurts!"

"Sit down," Shania said. "Sit on the step here. I'll go get some help.

"I feel so stupid," Mutt said.

"Aww, Love, don't feel stupid. I'll get someone to help you, all right? Be right back Love!"

Shania leaves Mutt for a few minutes and he curses and moans in pain. A few minutes after Shania's departure he hears women coming up the stairs. He curses in his mind- he HATES being seen... especially without Shania because she takes most of the limelight off of him. Hopefully they won't recognize him...

Unfortunately, they DID recognize him and when they said "Hi, Mutt!" he couldn't think of anything else to say but.... :)

"Well hello, ladies," Mutt said. He felt so ridiculous because he stayed sitting on the step instead of getting up. He just grinned up at them nodding his head up and down slightly.

One of the women said "I want to shake your hand, Mr. Lange. I think what you do with your wife is really terrific." With that Mutt held up his hand and she shook it and held on to it. Then she continued "Or Mutt. Mind if we call you Mutt? Anyway. The music you make together. I know she gets all the limelight because that's the way you two want it."

"Why, thank you," Mutt said.

Then another of the women took our a program for the concert from her purse and asked him "Would you mind really, Mutt, signing this for me? An autograph. And if you don't want to sign your own name, just sign it 'To Leanna. A Great Fan. Shania Twain.' That way you can remain in the background. It will be our little secret."

"Sure," Mutt said and he signed it just as she asked.

The door opened and Shania came in with two hotel bellboys. "Well, Mutt I see you have a fan club here." Mutt smiled shyly and said "They found me, Love. What can I say."

When the women realized that Mutt was sitting because he was hurt, they said "Oh, Mutt we didn't realize. You're hurt. Oh what can we do?" Shania said "He's in good hands, ladies. Thanks for watching over him." And then one of the women said to the other "Claire, why don't you bake up one of your carrot cakes for him? You know you make the best one in the country!" And Claire said "Would that be OK, Shania?" And Shania said "Of course. One of the bellboys will make sure it gets to him."

And then Mutt struggled up to his feet with one arm around each bellboy. He grimaced as he tried one more time to put weight on his foot, but it was too painful.

"Goodbye, Mutt. Take care of yourself," the women said as the door closed behind Mutt, Shania and the bellboys.

Then Mutt and Shania smiled as they heard a loud whoop through the door "Woooweeee!! Girls!! Bless our lucky stars!! Mutt himself! Woooweeee!! All that going to church has finally paid off!"

"So THAT'S why they went to church" Mutt laughed. "I'll drive you to the hospital, Mutt", Shania said, a bit worried. "No, no, Woddy, you have a concert! And you know that this isn't anything serious!" Mutt said. "Are you completely sure about that?" Shania said with a little doubt in her voice. "Yes, 100 %! I'll be fine, I'll be back in time to see you do the last songs. And you'll be fine too, they'll love the show", Mutt smiled. One of the drivers from Shania's crew drove Mutt to the hospital. Shania went inside, warming up for the concert.
After a while she knew she was completely ready, both her voice and her mood was just great! As much as she had wanted to come with Mutt to the hospital, she knew she was going to have a blast! She wasn't nervous anymore, she was just really looking forward to singing concerts again. And now it was just ten minutes till it was time to go on...

Then Shania took her micro....looked at herself on the mirror one more time...and started walking towards the stage....

Shania could hear the audience chanting her name ... Shu NI uh ... Shu NI uh ... Shu NI uh ... and she could hear her band warming up ... she felt her heart beating harder and harder .. she was ready and so looking forward to entertaining her fans again. She could see the spotlights shining on the stage glittering off the instruments ...

She listened to the fans scream for another moment before yelling into the mic- "HELLO AMERICA!!!!! ARE YOU READY TO ROCK THIS COUNTRY?!?!?!?!" Shania sang Rock This Country very engertically, jumping all over the stage... She sang FTMO, YSTO and TDIMM afterwards before premiering her NEW stuff... The fans went NUTS! They absolutely LOVED it! After she sang her new love ballad, she spotted Mutt sitting backstage with a cast around his ankle. She winked at him and finished the song. As an encore she sang... :)

For the encore she sang two songs.

The first was her new song "Three Hearts One Life" which she wrote when she was pregnant with Eja. It is a dreamy ballad (of course) about a man an a woman who are having their first child. It is a mix of English and French.


For her second encore song she sang another new song called "Still Goin' Out" which is a rock song about a married woman who is reaching middle age and still out there kickin' @ss with her man. It went to number one the following week due to the video which is a scream.

The audience of course loved it and she ended this performance with a large "Thank You. I'm back! And I'm lovin' it." And a bow, a huge smile, and pumping both her arms in the air.

Since this was the first concert of her tour, Shania planned a special treat for the audience. This first venue was only about five hundred people, rather intimate on the scale of her previous concert tour. As the audience began to fill the aisles, an announcement was made: “Attention Shania Fans. Shania will be signing autographs and posing for pictures at the left side of the stage starting in about five minutes.”

People froze in their tracks.

And the announcer repeated the announcement. And added: “Because she wants to meet her fans.”

Meanwhile a crew was setting up stairs up to the stage, and a table with a single chair behind it. A vendor with disposable cameras took her place at the bottom of the stairs in case someone did not have a camera. Another vendor had T-Shirts and programs in case people did not have something for Shania to sign. The announcer said that Shania wants to stay until every fan had an autograph or picture from her first concert. A buzz certainly went through the audience. No one left. Absolutely no one.

And a completely unexpected thing was … Matt from the Shania Twain Forums was there with a digital camera. He was brought in to post pics of each fan with Shania in real time as they were taken. This was one way Shania wanted to show her appreciation for the fans on the Forums.

Then Shania came out. She had changed outfits. This one showed off her bare midriff so that THAT particular issue could be laid to rest. She had on red spandex slacks and a black shimmery long sleeve top. She looked terrific. Her hair was piled up on top of her head, and she had a big smile. Then she took her seat behind the table and said: “OK, so who’s the first fan for tonight?”

A girl, about twelve years old, came up the steps. She was dressed like Shania with her bare midriff and her hair also piled up on the top of her head. She said: “Hi, Shania” and held out a program for her to sign. Shania said, “Well, hi to you too. And what’s your name?” The girl said “Marie. And one day I’ll sing like you. I just know it.” And Shania looked at her and said: “I’m sure you will!” Then they took a picture for Marie and one for the Forums which Matt posted.

And that’s how it went for the next several hours. Each fan got their chance to see and talk with Shania.

Lots of smiles all around. Not just the fans, but Shania also really enjoyed herself.
