Can you find true love on the Internet? I don't see why not... :uhh: I'm a little surprised that you're not as certain as I that you can.

The Internet is like a meeting place for people all over the world and I think it's safe to say that we've all made new friends with people online. So, it just seems logical that you could "meet" someone, get to know that person and over time, fall in love with them. Unlike typical social situations where your first contact with someone is visual, with the internet you really get to know someone from the inside out, which to me is what true love is all about. ;)

Yes, I think it's possible to find your true love over the net. I know of quite a few people who have met their true love over the net. I've been to a couple of weddings of people who've met over the net.

I met Dan (my boyfriend) over the net. I was in a SC chatroom on yahoo (which I rarely get in) and he found me in there. We've been dating for about 5 weeks now. :) He's a sweetheart and I love him to death. He's in the Air Force, stationed at Shaw A.F.B., which is about an hour and a half from me. He gets out in September and is moving to Greenville! I don't know if I'm in love with him, but I do love him ... I can't quite explain how I feel ... it just seems ... right. His picture is below ...

From what you know and what you've seen during your time on the Net, is there something that might make you doubt that you can find "the one" on the Internet? I think you (anyone) could find "the one" anywhere in life and I don't think the Internet is any different.

Matt - to answer you seriously - I think the Internet is great for meeting all kinds of people for all kinds of reasons - I think if you want to begin a serious interpersonal relationship you should meet in person ASAP after you have met someone on the net and the feeling of liking/loving is very strong and seems genuine - if you let grass grow under your feet or her feet there is no telling what might happen in the interim - you know the old saying "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" - he who hesitates is lost - I would not delay in meeting who I might think might be my one true love in person ASAP after I had made my mind up this could be "THE ONE" - you get me????:)

I agree with that too but there is also a little time involved with getting to know someone to the point where you think that they might be "the one."

You're kinda taking this in a little different direction but is it safe to say that we agree that you can find your true love online?

You're kinda taking this in a little different direction but is it safe to say that we agree that you can find your true love online? Matt - why ask me? I am 58 - young fellow - you know what it was like in my day - I never had the Internet at my beck and call - I cannot put myself in your place and tell you it is a good place to meet girls - or really get to know them - you sound like you move very slow in love matters since you were hurt badly once - I will tell you this - if I was in your boots and had a honey on the Net I was nuts about and had never met her and I knew she felt the same I would not waste time getting to meet her in person - if you are not at that stage yet in a Internet relationship or don't think you are then you have to wait til you are sure - but if the gal is sure and you are dragging your feet for whatever reason you may rue the day you kept dragging those feet cuz who is to say your gal might meet someone in person and fall for them and forget you cuz you were too slow to make up you mind about your feelings for her. Does that make sense?

anyway this is my opinion well internet is like a small world into our world so why not???? is a reality that people fall in love through the net well IM SURE I CAN'T FIND LOVE BY THE NET ;) but this is other story lol but yeah i belive everybody but me can find love here ;) well everybody but me and Caleb ;) :p but only cause he don't wanna neither hehehe :p and well we don't need look too far away to see that here people can fall in love cause we have Manu and Moni that they met here in this forums and now they are living together ;) and maybe we have other couples too  but we don't know it  :funny: :p and one of my best friends Eva she met his boyfriend in a chat and after one year as online boyfriends and lots of week-ends Valencia or Madrid together cause he is from Madrid now finally some months ago he came here to live with her ;) well i think is easy find someone to the net cause through a computer u can dare to say ur feelings in a way that maybe in person wouldn't *lol* true that there's a lot of impostors in the net and maybe u could be in love with a man that really is a woman lol or with someone that maybe really is married or is not who says be *lol* but is a fact that people fall in love in the net ;)

Hey peeps!

I'm very late, I know, but I just took the most exhausting exam ever! 4 hours (with a 15 mins break) of Microbiology....
I'm finally home now, and I'm extremely wasted...

Anyway, just got Bob's invitation to check this thread, so I had to come and take a look.

Well, I guess finding love over the net is possilbe, but when living in a god-frosaken place like I do, you don't really reaise you expectations about this sort of things, as there really is no chance of me finding someone on the net that's from Israel.
Besides, I try to stay as far as I can from Israeli chat rooms and such, simply because I prefer the American/European culture so much more.

Oh yeah, you might add the fact that I'm a bit obsessed with miss Twain at the moment. That adds another reason for no net love for me :)

Well, those were my 2 cents.

Ok I guess I should probably comment on this since I met my last 3 girlfriends online, lol. I know you can find The One online because I have and she will be moving in with me in a few months time :D The advantage I've always found with getting to know people online is that you are more likely to see the true person than if you were to meet them in the street and start chatting.

In person, whether it is conscious or not, looks do play a big part in whether you notice someone or not whereas online you often have no idea what the person looks like so it means all you have to go on is who the person is deep inside. For me, that's how real love can grow because you get to know a person inside out and because you are only talking online I think people are more likely to be more open and honest about themselves as you are both at opposite ends of a phoneline and if things dont go as well as you hoped then you always have the disconnect button and you dont have to worry about bumping into the person everyday which might be the case if it was someone you met in the street.

When you do get to know someone really well and start to love them for who they are then seeing what they look like can only make things better because at that point you are already attracted to who they are inside which is the most important thing really. Looks can change, a person's heart rarely does..

As for Bob's question about finding true love online, I dont think you can know that until you meet the person face to face and spend time together in person. That's when you know if the chemistry is there. The real test is if when you are then apart from that person (as is often the case when you meet someone online, they may not live near you for example) do you just wish that you were together again? I know I feel that way when I'm not with my girlfriend, she is the soulmate I never thought I'd find and I am only complete when I am with her.

So yes Bob, you can find true love online, but you cant know they are The One for sure until you have spent time together in person.

*hands Marine the sick bucket before he asks for it* :p

I've just had bad experience with finding "true love" on the net. I don't want to try again. It works for some people, but I don't think it would work for me.

I think I'll just try the most common way, to meet people offline. (though that seems a bit difficult, since about all the guys at my school seems so immature and stupid.)

I believe that if you can finde true friends on the net you can find true love on the net too:) If you fall in love on the net you fall in love with the person's personality unlike in real life you tend to fall in love with the looks before you get to know the person's personality:)

Annette: Yep, you have a point. But i don't wanna try again:p (finding true love on the internet i mean)

It's true what you guys say bout then you fall for their personality instead of their looks. but it's much easier to pretend and lie on the internet. Lots and lots of ppl in chat rooms lie ALL THE TIME. They can say almost anything without someone finding out its a lie. but some of them goes too far in their lying so its easy to know they are lying.

Logan

Dear All,

Yes you can find true love on the Internet, I am just back from Timmins but have been emailing some female contacts over there for many months. Last week I met them all and this week I want to go back to Timmins just to be with one very special lady who phones me every night!

I am not going to say any more or I will blush, but as a single again male - I can assure you, it was a big supprise to me to find myself feeling the way I do now after more than 5 years not looking for female company!

As always, Shania has a song that sums it all up "He doesnt have to know right now" or words to that effect - guess she's been there, done that and alowed Robin Eggar write the BOOK!

Somewhat Shocked, and all at sea!
