My mother heard on the radio that Faith's next album will be very rock and roll. . . . and might not even be played on Country music stations. :uhh:

Well, Shania's COO album wasn't very country. . . . . but it still got played. :uhh:

Anybody else heard anything about this?

I also heard it would be rock from MY radio station, but I'm sure no matter if Faith does rock/pop/techno/rap or country, country radio will give it a try! I hope this is not true though because a rock and roll album from her could be HUGE, but also could be career suicide...I think it would stupid for her to do this.

It's possible that she'd be successful in the "rock" world.
But I don't think it would be a smart move. :smirk:

I can understand having a few songs on the album being rock & roll. . but all of them? :really:

Whatever she decides. . . I wish her well. :)

She did a hell of a job on that Janis Joplin tune early on ..that was one of my very favorite Faith tunes.. like Wild One and Lets Go To Vegas - I have hated the garbage she has put out since her early work - in the beginning of her career I loved everything she did - seems like ever since she and McGraw hooked up her work has deteriorated terribly.

I can 't wait to hear her new stuff - mebbe it will be better and worth listening to again - I cannot believe she would move whole-hog into rock though - although Lari White went from country to the blues - but Lari's career pales in comparison to Faith's.

Hmmmm, lots of things to figure out on this forum. Right now I'm trying to figure out how one replies to an individual post in a thread, so if any one can help me please do.

I was reading through the posts on this Faith Hill thread, as her turn towards Rock N Roll intriques me. I did not even know Faith Hill existed untill Shania blew my socks away so much I actually started to tune into a country cable station that played her videos. That's where I saw Faith Hill's "This Kiss" I thought it was a great song, and wondered what it was doing on a country channel. Most of her country stuff I thought was bland, but that says more about me then about Faith.

Specifically I'm responding to ShaniaNuts comment that

She did a hell of a job on that Janis Joplin tune early on

I think I saw the video of Faith Hill covering a Janis tune once, but was not that impressed. Still, I notice a lot of country singers covering Janis, and that is probably because Janis's roots were Texan, and she grew up on country and blues music. I saw a Austin City Limits show where the Dixie Chicks covered a couple Janis Joplin tunes. The first tune they absolutely nailed, I had never heard anyone come close to Janis's depth and power before.

Do you think Shania could cover any of Janis's material? I wonder, but Shania's too much of her own song writer, so I doubt she ever will. The one singer I do wish she would cover is Bob Dylan

Back in the 60's Joan Baez did a great two album set of his songs called, "Any Day Now." I would love to see what Shania and Mutt would do with Dylan's music. Just an off the cuff album, in and out of the studio in a few weeks kind of thing, much like he does his albums. I think Shania's roots and Dylan's roots are very much the same. He grew up in Hibbing Minnisota, a small mining town close to Canada. (or some place like that.) I grew up in Bismarck North Dakota, a state just west of Minnisota, and also on the Canadian border.

Well, at any rate, I like to see Shania sing "Any Day Now," just because I love that song, and love her voice

Do you mean how to quote somebody? :uhh:

In the lower right hand corner of all the posts. . there is a "quote" button. Just push that and it'll automatically quote that person. :)

I would personally love to see her cover a bunch of stuff in the country and rock/folk genres but I do not see it happening.

I love it on Behind The Music when Shania says that she "could sing cover songs for the rest of her life and make a living, but anyone can do that". I think she appreciates the fact that the songs she sings are hers (and so do I):p

She's not retired yet Bob. :p

In the past she's been in the routine of making an album, having a baby. . .making an album, having a baby . . making an album, having a baby. :p

So, at that rate. . . I don't see why she'd have to retire to have several more kids. Unless that's her choice of course.

After so many children it would be hard to tour with so many young children at home. Yeah, I know she has nannies. . . but it would still be stressful. Of course, Tim has the same amount of stress on him from raising the children too. (minus the labor pains) :p

Maybe, but now she has enough material, and one thing I've noticed about Eilleen Twain, is that she tends to not only break ground, but also cover ground fast, (believe me, she had good training in her tree-planting days!!!!)

People like her don't tend to stay in one place very long. Come On Over was barely out, when she started to write songs for other artists, (I think Britney Spears, for one,) and I remember reading on this forum somewhere that she sings back up to Celine on one of Celines new songs. Was'nt it some song that Mutt produced. So don't try to predict too hard where Eilleen Twain takes this Shania "I'm On My Way," thing. Her way is not predictable, she is far too original for that. If one day she looks in the mirror, and thinks, I'd like to cover x y or z, she may well do that. I hope that "I'm On My Way," is thinking that way, "Any Day Now."
